  • Hello Matrix!

I have just had a lovely, lovely day out with my bestie! We shopped till we dropped, but we are both similar in that we only buy things that we need, and not just for the sake of it. I had a field day in the sale at Debenhams and got some lovely cozy jumpers and a GORGEOUS Green Jersey dress. OMG, it is lovely. Guess I have found my outfit for my leaving do in a couple of weeks time!! :D

Came home to be welcomed by a very excited puppy, which was lovely, and all three of our cats who were milling about downstairs with Daddy and Dotty! Yay!! :D

Right... I am totally knackered and my feet hurt (cos I have been walking all over Nottingham!! :D) so it is dinner and then bed! :)

    Have a great weekend!!

She is well chuffed now MG :) Her plan in life at the tender age of 10, apart from being ruler of the world, is to be an author and to run a 24hour internet cake delivery service so she has an income while writing her books. I have one very determined daughter.

She can join FW and I - we have decided to cut the faff and go for world domination - but only on Wednesdays cos we are having Thursdays off :rotfl:

Hello, all! This thread looks great - can I join in?

Lots of life-changing stuff going on for me - eighteen months ago I left my job, where I felt undervalued and taken for granted, rented out my house and travelled in Asia and South America for a year. Whilst away, I fulfilled my lifetime ambition to write a novel, followed by a second one after my return to the UK.

I am now in the process of selling my house - completion date April 20 - and moving to Portsmouth to start a new life. I intend to set up a dog-walking business to support me whilst I publish my novels (and hopefully make some money from them!). I also want to start dating again - it's been far too long! God help the men of Portsmouth! :D

Money is tight, because I no longer have the rental income to support me, and I'm not earning an income at present, but it feels SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good not to be working at my old job any more. I'm supporting myself from savings, plus I will have some inheritance money coming my way shortly - sadly from the death of my mother, who died after my return. So it's been a busy eighteen months, and no prospect of any let-up in the busy-ness!

You all sound like such a positive bunch so I'd love to join in the chat as my life evolves and changes! One question - I couldn't find the separate forum that's mentioned in the first post by Memory Girl. Did a Google search, but came up with loads of Matrix fan sites! Could someone point me in the right direction?

Hi Savingforoz and welcome! Sounds like you have achieved so much in such a short time. Looking forward to hearing about all your new plans in Portsmouth :) So sorry to hear about your Mum though. The Matrix is a private forum, which came about because many peeps on the thread are starting their own businesses and kept on accidentally breaking MSE protocol around promoting them.

Dora - your DD sounds like a genius! 24h cake delivery would definitely be the way forward. She can have my custom right now if she wants :)

Crickett - sounds like your dress is lovely. Any pics online?

Well my evening didn't quite go to plan. I got a rejection for the very first proper workshop (not a student PhD one) that I ever applied for. :( I have one more application in, but it's a real long shot. I hope that doesn't mean my work sucks

FW will be round soon for all hints n tips about Academic workshop I am sure Lara - its usually not about the work, but in the proposal of the workshop IYSWIM?

Welcome aboard savingforoz - you are the third connection/ coincidence around Australia in the last three days ..................... and we love looking for these moments of serendipity.

Sounds like you have a lot on your plate - so let us know when things get sticky - they are a pretty helpful lot on here. Sounds like you will fit in just fine, with your plans and positive outlook.

Sun is out - so going to make the most of the last day of the holidays I think and do "something" with the junior members of the clan.

    Back later

  • Just been crying with joy! A dear friend (the sort who is really family) phoned to say her daughter has safely had a wee girl. The young couple had been told they wouldn't be able to have a baby, then she fell pregnant but very sadly she miscarried. But miracles do happen, and a year later, they have their longed-for daughter.

I'm off to light a candle and rejoice!

    Aaaaaw fantastic news Groatie :)

Mr lottery sent me a £10 for the overpayments yesterday - so have already shuffled it into the bank account ready to move across tomorrow.

Today is sunny bike ride to church then decide from there what the day brings.

That is brilliant Groatie - sound like there are new beginnings all around.

Today is mostly stocking up the freezer for the return of school and packed lunches - a day of cooking but saves so much time on a daily basis.

Sun is out and I am itching to plant - but the reality is we are at least a month away from our "last frost" date so must content myself with planning instead.

Maybe I will look at publishing the financials today - after all the bank statement arrived whilst we were away - Yup! that sounds like a plan.

But first coffee and apple muffing (piccies now uploaded BTW) - I really mus get in to the habit of charging my camera overnight to prevent hiccups like this morning.
