I think talking to Occ Health about amendments and seeing whether they can find you an alternative role until your treatment is over might be a good thing. Remember, if you go elsewhere it will tkae time for you to build up rights. While you are sick is not the best time to move - going into a new job and needing time off for treatment may not be the right impression and you will be back to SSP as you may not have rights (plus it is easier for them to get rid of you now). Could you ask to be transferred to a ground-based role - maybe even suggest you could cover for people in different roles who are off short term as you might learn lots that would be useful CV-wise? If you can be flexible and keep earning it could come in handy.
You may have seen that I can't currently speak - this is critical to my job but I cant afford time off right now as I need my sick leave for my regular treatment for an existing problem, and this could last up to 6 months. So the team are working with me to allow me to do what my consultant says I can.
Hopefully you'll find a solution soon. Ask on the employment boards about SSP etc and they may have more ideas. Are you bored yet?
They won't give me ground-based work until I'm told I can't return to flying full stop. In my base they already have people on maternity working in the office, and it's just not offered at head office. If I chose to move then that would be my decision but I still wouldn't be able to go back to flying.
I guess waiting for the manager to contact me and occupational health to see the ent report. I have to say though the occupational health doctor was rubbish as he just looked in my ears then said as I had an ENT appointment he would just wait until I'd seen them to write a report. Very helpful :P
Amazingly, I'm not bored, just fed up of not seeing anyone as they are all at work!and being skint of course.

Well - till greenbee and the voice of reason arrives:D
1. You don't have to make an immediate jump, so cup of tea on and big breath. Belive me, I've drunk lots of tea
2. Congrats on moving in with the MR BTWThanks, bit hesitant about it as we are arguing right now but I'm sure it's a phase
3. Dust off your CV (CV clinic ladies will be around after work I am sure) and that can get kicked around. I've got my cv ready to send to a recruitment company who are waiting for it, but if anyone fancies a look let me know
4. If you were to write your job description of your dream job - what would that look like (Remember the perfect day exercise?) Can you write it up in minute detail and print it out so that you have it with you. I honestly have absolutely no idea, I have lots of ideas but not always easy to get into certain paths
5. Another cup of tea - and a Hob Nob cures most ills :rotfl:
6. I know you can't have another job whilst you are off sick - but what training could you do , could we do with you to help you get set for a new position? Would work be up for funding anything? work have pretty much said as I'm sick, just stay at home, they can't do anything right now. I will be completing my open honours degree with the OU next year so in theory am spending my time on those courses
7. You don't work for MrB do you? Cos if you did I would doll myself up, grab a clipboard and turn up at Head Office - with a "You are paying me you might as well put me to work". Know for a fact that has worked in the pastI wish, I'd actually see a bit of the world then :rotfl:
8. Tart up your usual networking places - LinkedIn etc and tweak your facebook of needed. Not sure I'm a member of LinkedIn... perhaps I should be...
Basically - lets get the duckies in a line whilst OT are pootling around. You have time - cos I am pretty sure they can't just fire you for being off sick, even if SSP is pants.

ETA - and the voice of reason arrived as I was typing up - spooky that LOL
Thanks MG, I know I can be doing 'stuff' and putting the feelers out, just feel a bit overwhelmed at making those grown-up decisions and facing up to the fact that I ain't going to get better quickly. In fact, it's a miracle it's not happened before in the 5 years I've been flying so I'm lucky in that respect.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

Yep - I'm finding the note seeing anyone a bit tedious, but have realised I could happily work part time

I could quite easily work full-time! I'm just held back by the difficulty in going onto someones PAYE system and it screwing up my ssp plus my employer finding out... after all, if it was a normal job I'd still be working!
Thank you so much for all your help and I know I probably sound like I'm making excuses and stuff, (i have just signed up to linkedin though!) it's just so much to think aboutBecame Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

I thought your boys might like this MG.
Banana Spread
3 medium ripe bananas (500g)
80ml lemon juice
125g butter, chopped
4 egg yolks
Blend or process the banana until smooth
Combine bananas, juice, butter and egg yolks in top half of a double saucepan or in a heatproof bowl. Stir over simmering water until mixture thickly coats the back of a wooden spoon.
Spoon hot spread into hot sterilised jars, seal while hot.
Makes about 500ml.
Enjoy - it is yummy in cakes and on toast.
Is this what I would call, banana curd?? - Sounds greatMemory_Girl wrote: »MrF has suggested I put an Alexa toolbar on the blog for some tracking stuff, but if I could beg a favour let me know on the blog what you like reading about and I will tweak it accordingly.
I know the weekend baking goes down a storm - and the "stuff in jars" always gets a lot of interest, but there is so much going on in my life that I'd like to know what you'd think would help the most.

I hadnt realised that flying was your job Psycho - I assumed that your employer flew you to meetings around the world.
Give permission to Occy Health to see the report from your ENT consultant - that way they will know that you are not swinging the lead. Flying with ears is not good - there is nothing worse than ears that won't pop because they are bunged with goo:(
Take time to rest, do a bit of research, work on your OU, eat cake and drink tea. Stay away from Jeremy Kyle.0 -

How do you make ricotta?
I had a load of milk that was surplus to requirements and there's only so much yogurt we can use so I had a go at ricotta. Think I drained it too much, it was very rubbery. However I thinned it back down with milk and added pureed spinach and it's OKish so will make crespolini but with a cheese sauce instead of a tomato sauce (gotta use up that milk). But I'd like to make some decent stuff.
Recipe, please, please? It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
There is a blog called "The Greening of Gavin" and he does a lot of different styles of cheese making - you might want to take a look there. He also contributes to the Simple, Green Frugal Co-op blog.If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Thanks both of you. Will try again next time I have a European milk lake to deal with - which may not be long as DD2 is very variable in how much milk she guzzles from week to week. But woe betide me if I don't buy enoughIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
