Probably roller bubbles MG - floorboards are new and very clean! I've found suggestions to make sure that all the bubbles are gone after diluting the paint, and also to wipe with a rag after applying.

Suppose I should get up and go and lag my last couple of pipes so I can finish cleaning my study so I can work in there when I get back!

That's great - because it much easier to sort. I find the cheap mini-rollers from the pound shop taped on to a pole for a final swish over is the quickest. The very fine bubbles in the foam give you a real even finish.

............................. and remember what I used to do? Well can you imagine washing the floor of a stage every morning with cola so that it got nice and sticky for dancers en pointe? Yum!! - actually putting it on was OK - but getting it off when the show moves on was truly a nightmare:eek:

I could probably write the worlds most useless PHD in "Floor painting" LOL

  • Got a good day lined up today, seeing people which is the main joy, and also I've my wee Pembroke table to collect this morning and more stuff is leaving for its new home later on.

And this weekend the packing commences - having thinned out just about as much as I can. Still visualising the mortgage being finalised for my buyers' buyers, missives concluded and the entry date of 27 April. Please can you help reinforce this for me my lovely Matrixers??!
If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Will be thinking of your move date GQ :)

Flying back home today. I have had a great family trip and feel so much better now I have seen my Gran. Unfortunately I didn't do much work, so will have to chomp all my frogs this weekend. I promised this chapter list 3 weeks ago and am still working on it. It's got to get finished soon or I'm going to go crazy!!

Moam - I am so glad things are improving for you and your family.

Dora - funky feet day sounds fab!!

Psycho - sorry to hear about your ears, hope they get better soon.

thanks MG. Might not be a very useful PhD but it might be very useful from a make-do-and-mend perspective :)

Fabby news on the table GQ. Talking of auctions, my copy of a catalogue arrived yesterday containing my lots that are being auctioned on 2 April (both with fixed reserves). Only one item has been photographed but then I knew that the mother of pearl things don't photograph well at all. Mind you, the catalogue does contain some tat and I noticed a mistake in the arty farty section - a chinese painting of storks is listed as a german painting of a dachsund (no sign of the dachsund at all - just the wrong picture with the right text or vice versa).

Frog chomping going on here - I have rung the agency who are recruiting for a Birmingham client - I was promised a call by today and if I hadn't been called then I was to phone - I am awaiting a call back. Need to book a hair appointment, need to ring eye hospital to get an appointment in the dispensary to sort out these poxy specs (I am in the hospital at clinic on Wednesday anyway) and I have divorce papers to complete before I get my Nisi. It is also signing on day.

More news on house - the solicitor has discovered in his searches that the house has a tithe attached to it for the local church, no mention of this was made by the vendors or the EA (who must have known as they sell the majority of houses on that street). It would cost £138 to insure against a tithe collection and this would cover me for 25 years, the solicitor has recommended that the vendors pay it:D

Have a good day peeps - BTW my cheapo daffs from Aldi (89p and there were 2 bunches in the pack) smell divine.

Horace, good solicitor to have found that! Very thorough :)

Pyscho, sorry to read about your ears. Hope you get better soon and can start flying again.

natsplatnat, - noticed your signature. Free listing on ebay this weekend if any use to you?

Mumsiemum - I love cycling but am terrified of the roads, so will only cycle in the park. haven't had a bicycle for years, and for this reason am put off getting one.

groatie queen - visualing mortgage for vendors :)

MG - your blog. I love the recipes and make do and mend. But as you say, the recipes are more for the weekend. Something for people to do when they are home.

to get more interest in your blog, you probably need more about how to make money. Although it is fab how make do and mend saves you money :D

I have an old cardigan, that has been faded on one side by the sun. I was going to give it the charity for the rag man, and then thought no, get some dye, dye it, black or maybe purple, get some lovely colorful buttons, take off the black ones, and put the new ones on, hey presto a new cardigan.

There is nothing wrong with the cardigan apart from the colour and some fraying on the cuffs, which I could fix.

It is good to post daily on your blog, that keeps people interested. And I love the human factor of it. The comedy, the frustrations, the realism. Love the notebook, want one... :D

For content, I don't know how much you can discuss your ideas for moneymaking. Am sure some you would not want to.

Probably to get more hits, you would need to research a little more what people are looking for in your blog?

I like the mindmapping element, maybe discuss how mind mapping works a bit more? I learnt about this years ago from a work colleague.
