I have heard worse/sillier PhD proposals - most of which get funding:mad: I am waiting for approval on my proposal but will not get a penny towards it probably because its too sensible:mad: But I'm not bitter:oBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Have had a lovely day... table collected and is just perfect, had lunch with my aunt and caught up on family talk (2 weddings and 2 babies happening this year), and dropped stuff off to MG. Got to see the famous sofas in the flesh (or the cloth), they are absolutely fab and if you think they looked good in the photos, the reality is just brilliant. The piping is so smart and a professional upholsterer couldn't have done a better job.
And I'm in awe of the rooms she's building so she can take in lodgers, the work she's doing to create her vision and the value she's adding to the house - living proof it can be done with ingenuity, sheer hard work and application, and small amounts of money. Oh, and the cake was delicious and I came home with some of her excellent tablet and two cakes of gorgeous soap. Thank you MG!If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

:rotfl: Sounds like I have a "Raving Fan" - gave me a fantastic excuse to bake cream cakes :T Mind you having taken the boys to Grans I am back with a very empty tin and a very happy Dad (Sssh!!! but he had three slices :rotfl:)
I've posted the PM over on the blog BTW - lovely lady got back to me to say it was OK.
So off to make a cup of fruit tea in my "Magic Mug" before MrB calls in 30 minutes - goodness knows what he has got planned for this weekend

DW emptied and hand washing done. Oh... and bath cleaned, but not sure I can be bothered to have a bath now... Bill paid. Personal admin emails sent.
Before I go I still need to: feed and water orchids; freeze soup; hoover downstairs; do machine washing; deal with the backlog of paperwork/filing in my study in case there is anything important in there; read meters submit meter readings to BG; move some stuff from the spare room to the study out of my cousin's way; locate my suitcase and some clothes and pack.
I have to leave for London at 11am tomorrow, and won't get back until 5ish. My taxi will be here 9am on Sunday. Just thinking about it is exhausting me.
MG... should I be applying knotting solution to the floorboard before colourwashing or doesn't it matter?0 -
White stains on mahogany table top are gone.:j:j Apparently the white discolouration is caused by trapped moisture in the wood fibres under the finish, from the likes of wet tea pots or mugs. The remedy is to apply heat to release the trapped moisture. I used a hairdryer and then used a wee bit wire wool with the heat, and it worked like magic - white all gone. Then I fed the surface (MG's suggestion) with mayonnaise, and it is all gleaming and like new.
I'm really seeing a big difference in the house now so much has gone. Book packing tomorrow. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

How to lift white marks from tables! I am so amazed at what I learn on here.
Going to work in the garden today. We go away next week so I want to do some preparation so that when we get home we can start getting the vegetable patch underway mid April, all being well.
Have a lovely weekend - it seems it is going to be a warm one today according to the weather forecast.0 -
Good morning Matrix! I had a lovely, lovely night's sleep last night and had a lie in... bliss! There is coffee in the pot, I have lots of plans and breakfast is on. Today chez Rickett we are having bacon and sausage cobs. Num. My theory is that both hubby and I will be doing lots of physical labour today so we need calories. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it!
I have a list as long as my arm of things I want to do. Houseworky, gardeny sort of stuff. I also want to immerse myself in some crafting too. Hubby is doing similar bits at Church where they are having the pre-Easter work weekend, so we will both be busy today. However... I am not going to work myself into the ground... Pootling is the order of the day! If I can manage it!
First thing to do? Weight myself. Gulp. I hate doing that. Just off upstairs to do it now.
Edited to add:... !!!!!!!!! I have been eating really well, I have been doing more exercise... and I have PUT WEIGHT ON!!! Grrrrrrrr.
Right... calmer now. Will carry on eating properly and exercising because it is the right thing to do, but I would really like the scales to notice it!
Have a great day everyone."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440
