    Hello, Matrixettes,

I just got this from a friend and thought I would share as it sounds as though some of you could do with a giggle!
I don't want to brag or make anyone jealous or anything,

But I can still fit into the earrings I wore in high school!!!

    National Girlfriend and Sister'sWeek

I am only as strong as the coffee I drink, the hairspray I use, and the friends I have.
To the cool women who have touched my life. Here's to you!
    National Girlfriends Day
    Be Happy!

It is good to be a woman:

    1. We got off the Titanic first.

2.We can scare male bosses with mysterious gynecological disorder excuses.

    3. Taxis stop for us.

    4. We don 't look like a frog in a blender when dancing.

    5. No fashion faux pas we make could ever rival the Speedo.

    6. We don 't have to pass gas to amuse ourselves.

    7. If we forget to shave, no one has to know.

    8. We can congratulate our teammate without ever touching her rear end.

    9. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there.

    10. We have the ability to dress ourselves.

    11. We can talk to the opposite sex without having to picture them naked.

    12. We will never regret piercing our ears.

    13. There are times when chocolate really can solve all your problems.

    14. We can make comments about how silly men are in their presence because they aren't listening anyway.

Send this to all the bright women you know and make their day!!!!!

My tuna from AF has arrived - yay!!!! Along with some lovely pumperkickel bread and puy lentils.

Putting the finishing touches to the garden plan - making sure to have something to top the bread and lentils with later in the year.

I had some of that bread too. And lots of the roses lime cordial. Didn't manage to get the tuna, but I my cupboards are overflowing and I think I need to keep working on using up my stores at the moment!

Aww happy Valentines Day to all. The Jammie Dodgers sound so nice MG. I didn't see the Panorama programme, and I will definitely look it up. I am so worried about the privatisation of the NHS, I never want there to be a situation here where people who need medical help can't access it. There is this campaign to try to stop the current bill going through in its current form if anyone is interested.

Forgive me all, but I am just so sad at the moment. I am not sure if it's just a crash from so much PhD work, or if I am upset that my Gran is unwell. I just feel the tears bubbling up from nowhere when I'm not looking. Motivation for even everyday things is at an all-time low. I am not sure what to do to shake myself out of it. Goodness knows, I have no right to feel like this as some people have an awful lot more to face.

You are probably drained from all your hard work, on top of that you have your Gran to worry about. Everyone's problems are different and important to the individual. Get some rest if possible and be kind to yourself.

Just watched that Panorama programme on Iplayer and was in tears at the withdrawn little girl of 6 saying that she felt 'sad'. You could sense the wave of desolation coming from her.

It's such a big country and people move such long distances that very often they are miles from any family who could help them. I don't know what the answer is, other than jobs, and I don't know where they are going to come from. Thank Heaven we are not poor in that way in this country.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Lara be kind to yourself - have a cry if you want. You are an amazing woman - there is no way that I could do a PhD, I haven't picked up my study since I got a D grade for an essay when I have always been an A grade student (except for maths)..one day I will pick it up again and get that diploma.

Horace, we have some spare lino that may fit if it is just the loo (off-cuts from my kitchen), and I am not that far from you. Everything crossed for you.

Just spent some time on the DIY board - now I am ready for the Black Art that is "Ames Taping" tomorrow. Fingers crossed - although probably better with them uncrossed.

Even got a hawk and a trowel in the poundshop - Yayyyy!!!!

Cool thanks Hex - fingers crossed I get the house now. Upstairs the loo is separate to the bathroom and an offcut may just do it.

Around here I am the only person who has carpet in the shed, I got a free offcut that was rubber backed and it stops the dampness seeping upwards:rotfl:

Maybe I should venture onto the DIY board - I have an electric screwdriver with loads of bits (no idea what they are for to be honest with you) and I need to know how to use it:rotfl:

Good luck with the electric screwdriver Horace. I gave up on mine and stick to the ratchet one I can work!

I might have some spare curtains...

My house is lovely and clean after this morning's efforts by someone else. OH is ill (he has the deeply unpleasant cough I've had, but is about a day behind so feeling vile), so I'm spending valentine's day evening on my own and he's staying at his and having an early night (bet he stays up working...), but at least I will only be kept awake by my own coughing and spluttering...
