MrF has been on email - doesn't know why the blog has eaten all my saved posts, but will be able to reinstall them tomorrow

Good job really or I would have been on my hands and knees begging any Matrix lady with a spare ten minutes to help me re-type them up again.

    Panic over in MFinthree office.

He recommends a rom-com and a bowl of popcorn to get over the shock :rotfl:

Might just go and take his advice.

It's getting cold now... hopefully the floor work will be finished for the day soon and I'll be able to put the heating back on, have supper, maybe a bath and a very, very early night!

Work is going very, very slowly...

Floor is looking good. Should be mostly done by tomorrow evening, and I think they might be able to do the other room next weekend. Better find the decorator's details!

On a different subject... I need ideas for valentines' day. OH doesn't like it because it is so commercial, but I'd like to do something. We may or may not see each other, depending on a. the weather and b. our colds (we both have them, no point in seeing each other if we're snotty and just want to sleep... ). I'd just like to find a way to mark the occasion, as it will be our first valentines day together (we'd split up at this time last year ... some of you may remember the dramas in January... at least we managed to deal with them quicker this year... I'm beginning to think we should move somewhere warm and sunny to stop him getting grumpy in winter!)

Aw!!! Isn't he a cutie - scrolling past quick in case the kids get any ideas :D

I was going to load this back on to the blog - but I appear to be missing a couple of hundred saved posts . Maybe MrF can do something when he picks up my email - if not I have a hell of a lot of re-typing to do.

    But long story short:

Take a small jar (pesto sized maybe) fill up with cheap vodka. Split 2 vanilla pods in half to expose the seeds and chop up small enough to fit in the jar.

Tuck in a dark cupboard for 6 weeks or so and the vodka will turn dark brown and smell fabulous.

As you use the extract up, you can top up with vodka and you have an almost perpetual supply of vanilla extract.

I can vouch that 1 tsp with a vodka shot topped up with ice ad diet coke is lovely - but even half a teaspoon in a basic sponge is wonderfully aromatic.

Thank's hun, will add vodka and vanilla pod's on to next shopping list, and I did a musil version of the biscotti and OH can't leave 'em alone.:D

Perfect biccie for dunking in hot chocolate - which of course is perfect for this cold weather. Can't believe they are so simple to make when they cost so much in the shops.

Popcorn made and "Love Actually" for tonight - woohoo!! how to spend an evening alone LOL

I'm going to crawl into bed soon too Dora. I have some kind of cold, plus the aches and pains from all-over restless legs. I can cope with one but not both. I will go to bed as soon as I have managed to get some kind of food down me. I know I need to lose weight, but I need enough to keep warm. So far I've had rice milk porridge, stewed apple & juice; bean soup and bread; a cappuccino and about two spoonfuls of some kind of spicy soup with couscous and spinach...

The fire is going nicely, but I don't think I can keep it going overnight without going outside for more coal, which I definitely don't want to do! I've used two buckets today, which isn't bad going. Its much better than wood when you want to keep it going for a long time, as you don't have to pay it so much attention!

As someone who grew up with labs, you have to remember they grow [STRIKE]up[/STRIKE]. Into BIG puppies :D

To be fair, they respond very well to training, as they are working dogs, but they can be hard work.

Is the plan for your son to train her Bitsy? I can imagine that if he likes rules and structure it would be a great way for him to learn about it.

I wish I had the room and lifestyle for a dog, but it wouldn't like all the work travel I do :(
