Tonight's workshop is about business image, but dress is business casual. Apart from drying my hair properly and slapping on some makeup, what should I wear? My normal work outfit is either my gym kit if I'm running late or jeans and a jumper... :o
  • Greenbee. You could wear trousers and a jumper or shirt/top. Jeans you can get away with if they are unfrayed/not faded etc and wear shoes or boots under them.

At the end of the day you are going to learn about business image you're not there to teach it to them:)

    Hope you enjoy it
My finances are work in progress.

Thanks :) I'd better go and look at what I have available...

I think warm will be a priority too... its the other side of London from me, so I have to allow plenty of time to get there (parking at the station is a nightmare and I'm going to have to get there at around 4pm to get to the workshop at 6.30... I'll be home late too :(

Help. DD had told her dad that I have smacked her. Now he has told this to cafcass. They called me and asked if it was true, I said that yes it was but it is not something that happens on regular bases. Now Cafcass is reporting me to the children's services. I really just want to kill myself. Then ex could have DD and do what ever he wants with her and I don't have to be here to see it. Don't worry, I am not going to do it.

Oh Marru, I am so sorry. You are actually legally still allowed to smack your child, but not beyond a 'temporary reddening of the skin'. There are a lot of articles on it at the moment because the MP David Lammy has linked the inability to discipline children in the home to the London riots. He is MP for Tottenham. See article here which also summarises the legislation.

Marru, I'm so sorry this has happened, child services are most likely to speak to your DD and work out the circumstances as Lara said it's still legal so they'll just want to determine what kind of smack it was and that she's not at risk. Please try not to panic.

Marru, you have the right to discipline your child within reason. Don't worry, you will probably get a visit or a phone call from a Social Worker who will determine what the circumstances were.

Given that you are in some dispute re your child and her father, it shouldn't be long before the worker realises the situation has been blown out of proportion.

Please do not get into such a state about it and definitely do not say that you want to kill yourself, unless you really do.....then I would suggest that you need to talk to your doctor.

It was a smack Marru - you are not beating her, so keep breathing hon. They just need to fill in forms and tick some boxes and TBH you would need to be a Junkie / alcoholic / lady of the night / moving "uncles" in and out every five minutes / keeping DS from school / not feeding or cleaning her/ not paying your bills/ moving house every few weeks and be a habitual shop-lifter before they will seriously consider taking her from her Mum................... and even then they will do everything to maintain the status quo.

So you are not? are you? So pot of tea and a dippy biscuit love.

Marru keep breathing lovey, lots of good advice. It was a smack, nothing more. Considering 60 people were involved in baby P case and they still couldn't remove him I doubt much will come off this aside from a lecture on how to discipline without smacking.
May I tentatively say do you think DD is playing you off against Ex a bit too?

Lots of hugs for you xxx
