Are you going to join MrBloater's 2 stone in 4 months challenge then MG? You don't have to lose that much, but it does give you a deadline... unless you have one already
I lost a whole 1.25lbs last week, just by eating less. I started exercising on Saturday, so we'll see what happens...

No it isn't - the book is Hard Times Handbook written by Keith & Irene Smith (editors of Australian magazine Earth Garden) ISBN 0 17 006364 X
Having a scary feeling today about paying bills with only JSA (impossible) however, I am still endeavouring to find paid work but I need a regular wage coming in. I have set my sights lower with regard to work because right now I cannot cope with large amounts of stress.
Talking about flowers - mum has some dwarf tulips that have started flowering in her tubs (she plants winter pansies and spring bulbs in them). She has made a list of all the plants that were still in flower on 12 December and there are an awful lot that should have died off at the end of the summer. I know that in my window box I still have geraniums flowering (they must be exhausted by now as I planted them in May). The weather is wierd.
I was thinking of my potential new home as well today - it will have a small front garden and a back one with a place to sit out. It won't have the internet though and this is something that will have to be rectified, I may also have to get a freeview box because I do not have a digital tv, I will certainly have to get a cooker and a fridge although hopefully if the pantry is old style then there will be no need for a fridge:rotfl:
Feeling a bit meh today - I think I am coming down with a lurgy as last night my left nostril felt as though it belonged to someone else and was driving me nuts with the itching.0 -
The blue tits have been inspecting the bird box this morning :eek: I tell ya Summer will be iin March this year instead of April :rotfl:
MG was chatting to DS's SENCO who's also the head teacher. Shes mentioned that they are going to start teaching the children mind maps. How cool is that?! :T:TI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0 -

My mind map guru who lives in Stourport has been actively promoting mindmapping in schools in the area (inc Bham) and has already given talks to teachers etc. My mindmapping chum knows MG:)
Feel like screaming - I was washing up earlier and noticed a car pull up outside so I went down to see if I could catch the person which I did. Talk about attitude - I politely asked the girl if she was a student at the college and she confirmed that she was so I reminded her that the road on which she was parked was a private road and wasn't free parking for students and the college carpark where they pay £1 all day is closer to the college. Talk about lip and attitude - "I pay my road tax and I can park where I like as my road tax allows me to do this" I have noted her registration number and I rang the college to complain - I was told by their Estates Dept to write to the College Principal and complain although that would be pointless because they do not keep registration numbers of student cars whereas they do keep staff ones on file. The lady in the office explained to me that the students are told where they can park for free (I have a sneaky suspicion that they are told to park on surrounding roads thus causing nuisance to residents). Had to laugh at the student who claimed to have no money to pay for parking yet drove a mini mercedes/audi (like a smart car size but nicer) that was a heck of a lot newer than my car. I can honestly say that I will be glad to move away from this flat because I hate it more every day!
Looked at the house particulars for the house my dad is interested in - it has fitted wardrobes in both bedrooms which means that my lovely wooden one will be up for sale (it cost me £250 in a sale). I am already decorating the house in my head:rotfl:
Washing up done - cottage pie out of the freezer for dinner (free). Need to crack on with job searches and applications...will someone just gizza job?0 -
(((((Horace))))) people with attittudes! and for the sake of £1!
Have you tried looking at your local council if they have vacancies? I know you are much more qualified than that, especially within the entertainment business but that might be a start?
I saw a job on the weekend at a local school which is term time, perfect but although it pays a little more, the hours are more, and that means I have to pay more for DS to be in nursery while I am at work, and with travel.... just not worth applyingthis is what I want a job at a school so I can have DS in holidays and not pay for nursery and childminders etc.
something is around the corner for both of us.0 -

OH is clearly deciding to become an ex-OH again. I've warned him that this time there is no going back, but something clearly happened at the weekend to make him decide that it isn't worth the effort. I suspect that he raised something difficult with his ex and she threatened him with stuff about the kids. I don't know whether I'm more upset about the fact that he's prepared to sacrifice our relationship, which has been hanging over me for months, or the fact that I'm now stuck with half-completed DIY that I have no way of completing. Anyone know a good telephone/network engineer in my part of the world who can come and help my electrician finish off the wiring?!0

((((((Greenbee))))))
I have been mooching on the jobcentreplus website again - saw a job that I would quite like and then on reading further I would have to pay for my own CRB check - they want me then they pay and not the other way round!!
MG - My gooroo is lovely - I have been on two courses at his home (his wife and dog are nice too) and when I was quite poorly last year with flu and bronchitis he offered to do my shopping for me:D He helped me enormously and gave me the confidence again to stand up in front of a room full of people and talk.
I haven't got the house yet so freegle will have to wait - I cannot have a fridge in here because I just do not have the space. If I can find a linky, you can have a look and see what the potential house looks like.
Let's see if this works:
