Queenie_Girl wrote: »Hello ladies, after mostly following your progress since the beginning, I wanted to say well done, and thanks for all the tips over the last 2 years. I don't actually have a stash, and therefore have never joint you, however I have very much enjoyed the recommendations and atmosphere of this thread.
I was wondering if you can help me? I figured you are the best bunch of people to answer my query (with your extensive experience). I'm looking for a mascara and eye liner that don't smudge. I'm tired of looking like a panda after one hour. I have recently tried the Mally range sold on QVC they said it is "bullet proof" - I think it might smudge and run more than others I have tried. I would like a mascara that don't make my eye lash all stick together as well - if not a recommendation for a good eye lash brush would be good too. Thanks in advance of your help.
Could it be the mascara brush itself that's making the mascara smudge? I love Clinique Lash Power as it has a smaller brush. I find that all the mascaras that claim to lengthen or volumise my lashes have thick brushes which mean I can't get enough of the product on in the first place! Another favourite of mine which has a small brush is Avon Magnify.
Re: eyeliner - I love Smashbox putty type eyeliners that I apply with a brush. Have to be careful that I don't use anything too liquid as it migrates up to my lids.
HTH.
Forgot to mention I have another UU : Boots Botanics Rosewater Toner. Have already replaced this although I would rather revert to using LE Instant Boost Skin Tonic as the Rosewater is starting to dry my skin out a little. Can't justify buying LE at the mo though.
Have repainted my nails today and am wearing Sephora by OPI Break a Leg Warmer. This is gorgeous battleship gray colour - sadly the gray I have been looking for for ages however this one can't be bought outside the US. Bah !Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

is it too early for new year resolutions?
despite being on this forum I have a massive number of ins this year:eek:....my name is rosemary and I am addicted to bonus times!!!!!
spent ages filling online baskets with clothes/jewelry/food/cosmetics yesterday........then closed down the sites and today am so glad I did as checked bank /credit card balances.....HOW MUCH?????????
OMG think we will have to live on our (very big) fat reserves in jan.
I had been lucky in having a nice reserve in the bank from when I inherited some money and so if I spent too much from the housekeeping/child benefit/wages I could replace it which was a lovely feeling as I could treat myself after years of supporting sons through uni and not feel guilty but the reserve is dwindling rapidly and next months bills will not be covered by housekeeping and wages so will really need to cut back.
just thrown away some make up I have had for over a year and treated myself to nice new ones....from my stash:Aand finally ditched the powder blushes that really do not suit my dry skin.
so resolutions are (yet again)
1/diet:rotfl:
2/no buying any toiletries in jan(help me with this one ladies)
3/be nice to DH
4/don't buy any clothes unless I need them(wasn't I on a forum about that??????)
5/stop spending so much time doing surveys as not sure reward is worth it!0 -

Hi Rosemary
I've come to the conclusion that it's pointless making resolutions as I then feel like I've failed when I can't "keep" them. Maybe cutting back on what you spend and seeing your Bank balance grow again will make you feel happier and all the other "resolutions" will fall into place. Even being nice to DH as if he is anything like MrM likes nothing more than to moan about my spending habits (which even he has agreed has been significantly less since following this challenge and hence he can't moan justifyingly (ie he still moans!)). Take care and don't take things to heart too much. xxBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Belated Merry Christmas ladies - hope you all had a good one???
#Hugs to Rosemary :grouphug:
Firstly my ins:-
Eternity gift set (perfume & shower gel)
6 X No7 face wipes
No7 hot eyelash curler
Recycled gold lush box filled to the brim with "homemade" bath bombs, bath melts and soaps - courtesy of DS2
All of the above were pressies so no spends but I also have a bought in - Clarins Santal face treatment oil which was half price at Boundary Mill yesterday plus an extra 10% off with my invite to the sales card - actually looking at "Cheap Smells" I think I did even better as I paid £13.49 for the 40ml bottle:D (I also treated myself to a beautiful silk dress by Planet reduced from £149 to £28 (after my 10% off with the card):D:D:D:D
To balance the books, I've got a few UU's too:-
Large can Batiste dry shampoo - WBA - this is a must for me!
Clarins multi active skin renewal serum - was a freebie, not sure if WBA as didn't notice any specific improvement in my skin.
Harajuko lovers G perfume -WBA as love this perfume it was really coconutty but they have changed the formulas and so I can't get my mitts on it
VO5 ultimate hold weather resistant hair spray - WDBA as soon as I see it at a good price as have one in my stash that I've opened:D
Off to tidy the house up now that everyone has left after the Christmas festivities and before the next lot arrive for New Year :j
I'm really proud that I have avoided all the sales (apart from Boundary Mill) as I'm sure I would have caved and bought stuff. Have decided to wait for the 75% sale at Mr B's and then stock up the present drawer (although it ain't really that empty:o) and the only thing I've worked out that I really need for next Christmas is ..........gift tags!!!!
bunnykins xxSave money on toiletries: no new/duplicate items until I've used up all existing supplies

Just remember some GA's too - A mens bed head peppermint shampoo and conditioner set in the large bottles - were re-gifted to DS1 as he's just bought his first house so he's now officially broke as he's paying a mortgage and a John Frieda Volumising shampoo and conditioner set to my mum as it sets my scalp off but she loves it - yay!!!

I think they are all mine too :rotfl:Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -
A few Christmas present INs for me
OPI Gone Gonzo nail polish
Urban Decay Supercurl mascara
Body Shop Candied Ginger shower gel
Benefit Powda Wowza kit (bronzer and two blushers)
Prada Candy perfume
Cupcake bath bombs
Set of five mini fruit scented shower gels, not sure where they're from
Sanctuary gift bag with body wash, bath soak and body butter
So I guess I need to go on a serious using it up drive in the next few months!"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
i have some more INs, got another Elemis set in the sales, same as one before but with an extra 10% off in debenhams. cost £30 and had full size day cream, cleanser and body creme and travel shower gel and body scrub. also got the gift they had on so got another mini papaya enzyme peel and body oil. since i ran out of the day cream my skins just not been the same and its like £30 a tube so i figured i may as well stock up and get free stuff whilst it in the sales and part of sets.
VALM when it first changed my skin went completely haywire but it seems to have calmed down again now with it. i had a break for a bit and tried a few others but now i've gone back its fine again. strange!
Queenie Girl I'm exactly the same - no matter what eyeliner i use it always slides off! i find if i set my black liner (pencil/gel) with black eyeshadow it stays on that bit longer. I've also been using the bare minerals prime time eye primer first now and it seems *marginally* better than it did before. even the mac technakohl that the assistants swore wouldn't budge ends up giving me panda eyes.
for your mascara sticking eyelashes together, i save my old mascara wands and run those through after my mascara. the ones that are all plastic "teeth" are the best, the best one I've found is the bare minerals flawless definition one. wiggle it into the base of your lashes on the side where your eyelid is and then slowly rotate the wand anticlockwise and up and out at the same time. only do it when the mascaras still wet though!
if you're really brave, i have a dressmaking pin that i use to separate each individual lash if I'm going out and want amazing lashes. gives more or less same effect as the old wand trick but you can get every single lash apart. takes longer to do and is a lil bit scary at first but it works! if you do it, rest your elbow on a table and look down into your mirror to do it. again, try and do it when you've got wet mascara or your eyelids will be pulled lots!0 -
also, just incase you girls haven't seen it yet, theres a brilliant website called The Beauty Brains (http://thebeautybrains.com/) that is written by cosmetic scientists and tell you the bottom line on exactly what is and isn't in toiletries and if new "innovations" actually are worth the money, let alone the paper they are written on.
from the home page, they've also written a free book that you can download that talks about how to understand whats in cosmetics and how to save money by seeing if what you buy in Selfridges really is that different from whats in Boots. they've got a proper book out too thats also amazing, i got it for xmas!
once you start looking at all this stuff, its amazing how much the industry actually gets away with!0
