Also meant to add I have had a look at the BS sale, not very good IMHO compared to last year with 50% off and a code for 30% off, however that's good as nothing to tempt me lol
I have another IN - Natural Collection mascara Mr B had a £2 off mascara or lipstick voucher, this was £1.99 so freeLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.

I need to decide which two subscriptions will be getting culled in January:(
I'm def getting rid of glossybox, I'm thinking of possibly just buying it as a one off then cancelling as soon as its delivered if they do a really amazing one but none of them so far have been that brilliant. the stuff I've loved would have just been cheaper buying outright than getting it in 4 boxes through them!
Its also all over their Facebook that they've picked a load of "beauty ambassadors" who are really high profile bloggers that are now getting free boxes every single month and days earlier than the rest of us. This month they all bragged 2 days before ours were posted out that the box had arrived and was amazing and then posted reviews and pics on the day ours were being posted, so when you checked Facebook to see if they'd gone off you instantly had them all posting "look at my box!" and a picture of it underneath. them doing that kinda made the decision for me.
I was going to try carmine then i found amarya and decided i liked the idea behind that one better. i looked at feel unique too but that just seems like them trying to cash in on a good idea.
theres some bloggers out there who get all 5 boxes! thats nearly £60 a month on samples with only one of them promising to send a full size item every time. one or two as a nice treat fair enough, but £60 a month could buy you so much stuff you'd actually use and love.0 -
I know exactly what you mean Elvissquid, I was upset by the bloggers posting about their boxes early too.
I don't so much have an issue with them getting the boxes for free as long as they are honest about it, but I'm not ever going to listen to that persons 'review' of it. Spilling the beans early was awful though and annoying - and then having to wait ages for the bloody thing to arrive and resist peeking wasn't very nice!
As you say now that you can just buy a box if it's got something inside you want theres no real need to be subscribed. carmine seem to focus more on makeup which I like, I hadn't heard of Amarya so just looked them up and they look absolutely lovely and much more my thing.
Sorry completely off topic there!0 -

Welcome FannyAdams (and any other newbies that Ive missed!!)
Quick question about the secret santa - did any of you girls send me two packs of polos for Red and a set of Origins minis?? I got them with a card saying "thanks for organising this" - but Im really confused, cos when I asked my SS (which is great - love the wrapping paper- thankyou so much will have a great time wtih them!!) she hadnt sent hers yet....
Im feeling really down at the mo - Ive been feeling like nobody at work cares if im there or not (unless Ive been cooking - then they do!) and I got the venue of the christmas party wrong for the weekend - wasted half an hour standing outside the hotel I was at playing phone tag with one of the other girls (the only one who would answer!) trying to find out where I was meant to be and failing - so i gave up and went home (mightily !!!!ed off having had my hair done and make up done special and bought a new dress!!) - My secret santa gift went to the party, but nobody now knows where it is, so I have NO idea who got me it or what it was.... and to cap it all - we were looking at the cards that our (pointless cos its a cheque!) bonus' go in - and everyone has a little message from the bosses - except mine, which just has their names in. Im ridiculously hurt by all of this - I dont push myself at all,and i dont make a huge thing out of anything normally - but surely I deserve at least a "thanks for all your work this year" in my card?!!! the girls I work with can be (i hope unintentionally!) selfish, so the secret santa thing doesnt really suprise me at all - I just feel bad that whoever it was who had me must think im a right ungreatful grump cos I havent said thankyou !!
not sure what hurt the most really - the sudden conformation that I may as well not exist, or that I cant even warrent a sentence of thanks from the bosses....Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup0 -

I hope I haven't added another box to your mix! Lol. I loved this months. The Ren set was divine!
My Glossybox is cancelled!took 3 webpages of "oh no! but you'll miss out! are you sure? really sure?" then an email with a confirmation link to confirm the cancellation, which took you to a "are you really sure? click here to order again!" page. they must be getting desperate to keep people subscribed!
Trudij that's awful of them!0 -
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((TRUDI)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
All I can say is, you sure as hell are valued on here, and on FF and the other places too. Doing the job you do, you would have been out on your ear long before now if you were in any way sub-standard. I wonder if your card was at the bottom of the pile, and the boss's conversation was something like 'Last card - oh God, have you seen the time - better just sign it and shove the cheque in.' Or 'Oh God, we forgot Trudi's card.' 'Well, there's no time to write anything, quick, just sign it, I'll do the cheque.'
What happened with the hotel mix-up was horrible - it sounds as if the others were all wined up and over-excited already, so that none of them could be bothered to help you out, they just probably thought it was funny.
As you have said, they are selfish. There's a lot more I could say on this, but it's late and some of it would be best in a pmm anyway. We all need to feel valued in some way and to feel we count.
Actually, I will say something here. All my life I wanted to be somehow part of horse racing but I knew that with my background and other factors it would never happen. But I am, and it has happened, even though just in a small way. The wonderful online friendship shown by you, Kri, Ray and others enabled that. You are a natural giver and bless you for it.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
And - you have just made me cry!!! It's my friends (on and offline!!!) who make me who I am - I'm surrounded by wonderful people and I count myself as very lucky to have everyone. I agree, I don't think they deliberately set out to upset me - they are just supremely thoughtless and don't care about anyone other than themselves. As for the card - its a stupid thing to get upset over, but I've worked with the one who was writing the cards for nearly 17 years - and he couldn't even manage a merry Christmas. I got half the bonus of the others last year - "well you are part time" (and to be fair, one of the other girls went mental because it's not about who works what, it's about how much they value you and want to thank you!) I'm full time now, will be interesting to see if I still get less - I do more out of hours than the others and it's me that they call first for all sorts of things - sometimes even before the now head nurse - so its not like they don't still value me when they want something!! This boss is the one with a point to pointer and a broodmare - it's not even like we have nothing in common!!!!!
Ah well, just goes to show, doesn't matter how much you care about things,if people are determined to keep you in your place they will gradually chip away at you until they do.

I've been so unimpressed with so many beauty blogs. They seem to just race to get their blog up with whatever new box they've received, so their blog post consists of lots of photos (yes, yes, I know what a Glossybox / Boudoir Prive box looks like; yes, yes, I know they use tissue paper and ribbon; I don't need to see a picture of them in every blog), plus wordage along the lines of "I've heard of / not heard of this brand... can't wait to try this product".
I want some substance. Wait a few days, try out the products, and give me some decent reviews of how good they are, who they're for, compare and contrast with similar products by different brands. Blogs that do that get me coming back as a regular reader.
Blogs that just go "ooh, my box has arrived!", show lots of pictures and get distracted by which box has the more feminine / chic presentation are just not worth my time. That they can manage to get free boxes when this is all their blog amounts to is amazing, but good luck to them.
And just to cover the moneysaving angle, I'm now signed up to 4 boxes (though I won't get my first Amarya box until next month), so I need to give some serious thought to cancelling 1 or 2 of the boxes.0
