Glad you had a good day Paul. We decorated pine cones with glitter glue with the kids yesterday and used them as decoration. They absolutely loved doing it and are proud to see their creations on display.

Hi Paulcornwall
Me & my Partner are thinking about going Bankrupt we think its the only option we have, as my Partner is sick Im his carer. Try www.charisgrants.com for help with the Fees. I hope this helps you.0 -
Well what a week. Don't ask me how but I've managed to get the Bankruptcy fee together. CAB have been booked in tomorrow to go through the paperwork and set a court date..eeek! How do I prepare myself for the type of questions on the forms? I don't even know the date of the loans so can't work out what money was spend where!!, this gets a little concerned, any pointers for tomorrow. Also whats the typical waiting time for the courts? Feeling rather nervous and unprepared.0

Don't worry about the OR's interview just yet Paul. All you need for the forms is the original date you signed up for loans/credit cards. You don't need to detail how and when the money was spent over the years just yet. The CAB will help you with the reasons for the spending part.
If you want to have a look at the forms tonight so you're a bit more prepared for tomorrow, you need 6.27 (Debtor's BR Petition) and 6.28 (Statement of Affairs) from this list. Scroll down past 6.2 as they go up to 6.9 then 6.10 and on to 6.27 rather than the logical 6.2, 6.21-6.29 and then 6.3. You only really need to look through 6.28 tonight, the CAB will help you fill out the more confusing 6.27.
What time is your appointment tomorrow? Will you have time to ring your local Court before you leave? If so, ring them up ask to speak to the BR Clerk, then first of all confirm your full address to make sure you have the right Court for you to petition your BR at. Then ask if they operate a drop-in on the day service or appointments. If it's appointments then you can find out how far ahead they are booking them, some you can get an appointment quite quickly, others it's a few weeks. You can find out which Court to ring by using the CourtFinder search function.
With regards to when you spent and what on - if you're anything like most of us, there weren't any expensive holidays or one of spending, it'll just be general day to day living, robbing Peter to pay Paul, consolidating debt and eventually realising that you have been living beyond your means and can no longer afford to keep going like this. Of course, there may be illness, loss of job, changes in family circumstances (new baby) etc. which was a catalyst in the realisation and that's important to mention too. Often, debt is manageable until a life changing event occurs...
Hope that helps a bit anyway and that all goes well tomorrow. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Thank you for your response. I've printed the forms off to have a read. I don't know the dates when loans/cc where taken out will i need to find this out or would cab have already of done this?. Having to drink some dutch courage to get over the nerves and anxiety at the moment, I know its not the way but need to chill out (99p perry from lidl has its uses). My life seems such a mess, debts feel like the biggest tangle of wool imaginable, where did all that money go??Ineedaname wrote: »Don't worry about the OR's interview just yet Paul. Did you send off for the paper copies of your credit reports from all 3 agencies as per my post #12 in this thread two weeks ago? If you did then they should have arrived by now and start dates will be shown against each record.
The CAB are unlikely to have done this for you as it would cost them, they have limited funds and are really there to support and advise, but it's up to the individual to provide them with personal financial information. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Keep going Paul, depending on the system your local court uses, you could get it all over and done with in time for Christmas and, trust me, you'll never get a better pressie than the feeling of relief you'll feel when you set foot outside the court, a free man.
Like most things, BR can be a truely worrying thing, your imagination runs away with you and you'll imagine all sorts of things but it'll be fine, it's no worse than wandering nervously into the Dentist for Root Canal work, the prospect is terrifying, the reality is that it's a fairly smooth ride and everyone will most likely be kind, considerate and understanding towards you and the situation you're in. I think that's one of the best things about this forum, those of us who have been there and done it, can speak from experience and i've yet to see anyone writing to tell us that the process of going BR was anything but 100% worthwhile.
Keep smiling kidda, i suspect there are a lot of us who are rooting for you and yours.0 -
I was under the impression CAB was sorting this out as i signed a load of forms giving 3rd party authorisation to my creditors during my first cab meeting. I'm also paying for there service under a legal aid type arrangement as I'm in receipt of income support, does this sound right?0

Family support worker, is about giving you floating support to sort of look at ways to help you cope more. they wont be able to give you financial help but can help to apply for grants etc if essential items needed replacing etc, they help people in looking for employment , managing finances etc
Samartians may be able to help to off load to they are there for that purpose,
Was the mac book for the children or to sell for the BR fees.
I cant work out if your still repaying debts etc, if you are stop . That money is better used to go into the BR fund pot, for the fees.
Xmas is stressful and i dont know what to suggest , but im thinking of you.
This is my hardest year yet , can family help out a bit at all .if only life was a box of chocs0 -
sorry paul, ive missed a ton of posts when i posted, so my advice is prob old hat know.
Joe public is absoutely right , it takes a long time for most to make the BR decision , but i found it pretty reasonable and had a ok time with the OR.
what i did was make a rough time line of events so when it came to the phone interview i could approx say roughly when i took credit out and when the difficulty arose.
I def was not absoutely factual as i simply couldnt remember and the OR accepted that.if only life was a box of chocs0
