:T Paul - see, you survived that bit ok. I know its difficult to believe others when they say its really not as bad as you think it will be. The phone call from the OR won't be as bad as you are dreading either, it takes roughly 45 mins, but a lot of the time they are making notes - so don't worry about any silences occurring. Settle yourself down with a cuppa and your paperwork and away you go..... Things get easier after this, honest!

Well been to the court, what a big place, must of been a full on trial going on. Had to go through a metal detector on the way in and be wanded down. Went upstairs to a quiet waiting area which felt like a bank countering service. Handed over the paperwork and money, was checked over by the clerk and then given to the judge. I was told to sit down and wait or grab a coffee in the cafe. I decided the later, but £1.80 for a coffee, funny enough thats the exact amount of change i had. Took the coffee back into this waiting area and by the time i took a couple of sips the papers were stamped and i was free to go!! I couldn't believe it. Now waiting for the OR to call, just want this out the way, hurry up and ring!!
Hi Paul, I'm pleased it went well. Onwards and upwards now
Best wishes

So pleased for you it went so smoothly today. Did you receive the call from the OR's office yet? Don't worry if not, they'll probably call tomorrow, they won't forget you. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

No call from the OR although the court said it would be today and make sure your available. Just called the courts and told them I've still not heard anything. I was given the direct line to the OR who said the court in question has been telling everyone the same when in fact he will be calling tomorrow. He said it would only be a couple of minutes to address any urgent issues. the "proper" interview will likely be in a few weeks. OR sounded a right so and so and now its going to drag over christmas. What sort of questions should i be prepared to answer, as your properly aware from previous posts i get completely confused under pressure, if I'm prepared I will feel so much better. I know everyones circumstances are different but what were you asked???
Finally when will i see my name on the insolvency register?0 -
Thanks for the update Paul. Try not to stress too much about the OR interview (easier said than done I know). You are unlikely to actually speak to the OR as they're a bit like a Chief Exec. I think it's the Examiners who conduct the interviews and whoever you spoke to today may not be the same one you have your interview with.
When the time comes for your interview, make sure you have a fresh cuppa in front of you and your Statement of Affairs. They'll pretty much just go through the information you provided on that form, asking questions to clarify and expand on the details. Remember, they get to interview all sorts of people with and without health problems, so I'm sure just mentioning at the start that youget easily confused in stressful situations will help.
I'm not sure about the IS register. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

I believe that they want to check a) you know what bankruptcy means and what you can and can't do - ie borrow more money, how much you have to pay them etc etc. b) to get an idea of the circumstances - what has led to this - ie illness, caring for your mum, partner issues, house moves, job loss etc etc. They may have one or 2 questions from your form you sent in or you may have some questions you want/need to ask them.
Maybe keep a list of questions to ask and then you can add to it as you think of them?
They should have a copy of your form so a lot of the details will be on there so they may just want confirmation of this. Also they may require copies of bank/credit card bills etc but if you don't have any then don't panic - they can get hold of them if they need to.
If you don't know a precise date/reason for something then don't panic - it's unlikely to be vital and if they need a specific date, then again they can look it up.
I'd keep a rough timeline of events if you can just to jog your memory. - ie date lost job, house move 1, signed off, etc.
As long as you haven't done anything really silly like commit fraud or book a fancy holiday after you knew you were going to have to go bankrupt etc then don't worry.
Hopefully you will get a sympathetic examiner but if not then remember that the idea is to get a factual aco!!!! of things - it's not for them to be nasty to you and they are just doing their job.
By the way this isn't from personal experience but based on what other posters have reported.
