what if someone got hold of my card, how much could they spend before it being cancelled
They say you can only do 3 transactions per day or something like that before being asked for your PIN, so that would equate to around £45 maximum.

Lost or stolen card or fraud - yes.

I refuse contactless on a debit card, but I don't mind it on a credit card (although I'll probably never use it). At least its not connected to my current account!

its a total nightmare trying to get Barclays to stop the contactless feature when they reissue your card

It's the opposite for me, they refused to give me a contactless one.

I can see why some people might want it but something that isnt secure and doesnt ask for a pin ever

It will ask for your PIN after £40 of consecutive contactless payments so that is the absolute maximum you can lose if someone steals your card and doesn't know your PIN.

See above. And yes the bank will refund you in full.

Does anyone know how you get a contactless card with Halifax?

I was away at the weekend and went into the branch in Hereford and asked and they knew all about Paywave and said it comes automatically on all new cards, so they logged my old one as faulty and would send a new one.

The new one arrived today, and it's not got Paywave on it :(
  • Since Halifax are a part of Lloyds I expect they only give them to customers in London at the moment (which is what Lloyds are doing).

I was told on the phone by Lloyds that I could get one, I've been trying since July last year. So far they've sent me 4 new cards, none with contactless. I have given up with them.

Just to add, I have found more places using the tech, Timpson (key cutting place) and Ten Pin :D

I have just received a replacement Contactless Lloyds debit card and I do not live in London.

Must say I don't really understand the reasons not to have contact less, it speeds up transactions and the fraud liability sits entirely with Visa. Sounds perfect!

I thought they looking at ways to be able to turn the contactless facility on and off at whim? (or did I dream that?)

Yes its the same, would have been nice to have a new design, but hey, at least they are coming into the 21st century now! Now all they need to do is make their credit cards contactless, and I'm sorted, lol!
