Contactless debit cards

I don't think there is anywhere which accepts card payments but not chip and pin now. I remember when it was first rolled out, my local Vue cinema (it was Warner Village back then) was one of the last places to get it, even when everywhere else was on chip and pin they were still using the mag strip and signatures
One time at Morrisons about a year ago I was trying to buy some stuff and their electronic card payment system was down, so they were processing all cards using those things which take an imprint of your card on a bit of paper! Unfortunately I couldn't do it as I only had an electron card at the time...so I had to go outside and draw money out of a cash point to pay.
Then at Sainsbury's about 6 months ago there was some glitch which affected ALL Visa card payments or something, so nobody could pay with Visa cards, anywhere.0 -
The local AMC cinema doesn't even check the pin in its ticket machines.0

Google "Disabling Barclays "contactless" debit cards"
Very simple and works, can still use cashpoint and pay with chip and pin.
Creditcard was more difficult because antenna was near main chip - but still managed to disable that easily.
- Thats real customer choice those that want it use it, those that don't can switch it off and never have to worry about it.0 -

Those that don't want one can just go into a branch to downgrade their card, why bother going to all this trouble?0 -
There definitely isn't a £40 limit before you have to use C+P again, I've spent loads more than that in the last year in the staff canteen, Boots, on Stagecoach buses, in Costa and Starbucks and never had to enter my PIN. I find contactless transactions to be quick and efficient, it means I don't have to carry small change when I want to buy a coffee in work or when I want to get the bus into the city centre.
I really don't see what some people's problems are with contactless, I bet you were the ones moaning when debit cards came out or when chip and pin was introduced and you moan at anything new that comes out.0 -

I asked in branch and was told that it was impossible for me to get a card without contactless functionality without changing my account to a basic one.
So today I found the antenna hidden within my card and cut it out. My card now has a small hole in it, but I don't think anyone will care.
And they said it was impossible!
I really do think however that you should not be forced to accept this insecure technocrap, it should be the choice of the customer, not the bank.0 -
You can get Barclays debit cards without it - they gave me one and flatly refused to give me a contactless one. Barclaycard however is a different story, they are all contactless and that's that.0

Consecutive contactless transactions?0 -
I tried to pay for a fries by contactless in McDonalds today. I ordered, was told the price (£1.39 I think...), and tapped the pad which had the ")))" symbol on with my debit card (which also has the same symbol), nothing happened, so I held it there, nothing happened. Then I was asked "What you like to pay by card?", I answered "No, I just thought I would show it to you for no reason.". I got no response from the human or the machine, so I stuck my hand in my pocket, give her £2 coin, got my change and left.
So much for ease of use !
I take it therefore that if I want to pay via Contactless, I have to say "I wish to pay by contactless" BEFORE touching the pad with my card? Ie, completely not like the videos and adverts which have someone grabbing a banana and then paying with a card whilst doing 20mph down a water slide shute?0 -

I misread what you put, sorry, I thought you meant £40 of contactless transactions overall.
We've been told that the you'll need to enter your PIN after a random amount of contactless transactions in quick succession.0
