Oh, I feel for you! Had teens/early 20's and believe me I have years of practice at reading the signs like a book - trying to turn the guilt onto you for his own stupidity of leaving his mobile in his jeans pocket when you did the laundry. Then he borrowed something that was working when he took it, but not when he gave it back. Then criticised it - because it doesn't play games etc., no doubt. Maybe he was scrolling through it trying to find some and hit the wrong button, who knows, I do know things stop working but it's a bit of a coincidence, isn't it, that it happened while in his posession?
No matter how old the phone is I agree, it's the principle. As he's working does he pay keep? Tell him he has to buy you a new one, basics are only about £10/15. And tell him to do his own laundry, following a list of instructions (in plain English!) that you've given him.
If it's any consolation it does get better. So I'm told....;)0 -
Is that because this is now the principal principle?!!!
(Sorry. I'll get my coat. Or I would if it hadn't been borrowed).0 -

Tell him calmly that you need a phone. Any phone - just one that works. Teenagers always have a mate with a spare old PAYG knocking about in a drawer. Then ask him to set it up with your sim and phone numbers in it, and tell him you'll calm down and talk about the Christmas present thing once you have a working phone in your bag.
Don't bother about winning, or being right....just get the practicalities sorted out:D0 -
Is this the same kid who was cheesed off at not getting all he dreamed of for his 18th a while back. Not exactly turned into a man yet then has he :rotfl:
If I was you victory I'd be reminding him how he went on an on about being an adult and what that involves. Like admitting when you have damaged something and having the decency to sort it out. Good luck with him, he sounds like a nightmare.0 -
