Os Daily Thread January 31 2007.

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 31 JAN 2007 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning all.

Logged on to say good morning but no daily OS! I hope I've done it ok for you guys.

It's chilly here this morning, Ds1 and Dd1 are both down huddled under the settee covers. OH is fianlly asleep as he has been wandering up and down most of the night, it's not like him but I suppose it's understandable after what's happened.
I made a spag bol last night with quorn mince and it wasn't too bad. OH enjoyed it which is the main thing.

Oops - just seen the time, got to go.

Hugs to all that need today.

Smoky. xxxx

its been ages since i posted here, but this morning ... its god-awful-oh-clock, and half an hour ago the OH woke me up, through my befuddled awake-but-still-asleep nonfunctional mind he finally managed to get through the message: the police had come in through the (communal) front door for the guy in the flat upstairs. we have no idea why. He knocked on our back door at around 3am to "apologise for playing music" (yeah right), showed my OH a letter from the housing saying they were going for repossession for nonpayment of rent, he was blubbering for sympathy and going on about suicide and stuff like that.

(we're not uncaring, its just that this guy is a drunkard, he spends all his money on booze then threatens our neighbour to give him food, causes us hassle, nearly burnt the entire building down, and, frankly, we've heard this all before - he does this on a fairly regular basis.)

anyway after OH got rid of him we curled up and went to sleep and the next thing OH knows is thumps, kicks against the communal door and he's scared stiff, that there's someone trying to break in. Of course i'm oblivious to all this, i don't hear a thing without my hearing aids in (I don't wear them when i'm asleep) so i don't know anything till he wakes me up. He - i assume - gets up and pulls clothes on and goes to the spy hole in the door and sees that its the police racing up the stairs. They left, without speaking to him (I don't think they realised he was awake) and the door has been left unsecured.

OH just told me that they seemed rather upset that no one answered the door, but the thing is, the doorbells have been disconnected because the kids ring the doorbells then run away... the housing are supposed to be fitting a) new steel doors and b) communal phones that (I assume) can be disconnected if necessary, but we've been asking for these for the last 3 years, and they're going to do that soon.. no idea why the police went through the door - they can usually only do that if there's a crime in progress or they have a warrant, right? either way, as you can imagine, we're both pretty unsettled by all this.

hopefully as 9am rolls around and the housing office opens the housing officer will be round to sort it out.. but i wouldn't put much faith in em..

    *sighs*.. what a morning!

Morning. Day off today. I am still up at the crack of dawn, but nothing new there, I am conditioned that way.
I had a good e-bay day yesterday. I thought it was going badly and then in the last hour everyone went bidding mad..... Makes you wonder why you bother putting an item on for 7 days?
I even sold a brand new pair of shoes that were odd. I clearly stated that one shoe had 5 lace holes and the other 4 lace holes.... But they sold. :D
    No reasoning e-bay.
I have to spend the day finishing the gloss paint in my daughters' room and deciding if the carpet can be cleaned or replaced.
    well.... that's me done..

Good morning every-one. I am up earlier than necessary thanks to ds who doesnt understand what a lay in is. Today i have to go to my daughters assembly which i dread doing with ds as he just doesnt sit still, so i will try to find a friend of mine to watch him for half an hour .Its so important for kids to feel they are special even if they are part of a big family.(imo)
I have some toys/books being collected from a member of free cycle at 11am. I couldnt believe how much stuff was under the cabing bed of one of my daughters!!! plus a load of dust, cough cough. I am still waiting on my car but at least the part came on time yesterday, so i might be fortunate enough to get it back, time will tell.I need to put the tumble dryer on and unload the dishwasher.Goodness knows whats for dinner today.I need a cuppa now so will love you and leave you. Have a good day and hugs to every-one.
Penny pincher, i hope you are feeling better today, hugs to you especially. Take care all, Love Elaine x

  • Morning All! My last day at w*** this week, and I finish with a drive out. Quite nice - put the radio on, and can relax.

Had my appraisal yesterday. My boss (lovely as she is) has no idea how to do this, so we tend to talk about training needs and our holiday plans.

Smokey, hope your DH is getting better.

Amie, hope your FIL is on the mend

Kethry,   you've been missed! You were being asked after only this week :D

Was looking through the pics of OSers yesterday. We haven't seen MimiF for aaaaaaaaaaaaaages.

Beef casserole in the Rayburn. Dumplings with it later, with sprouts and whatever other veg I can find.

    Have a *Wicked Wednesday* :A

    Good morning everyone,

Hi Kethry - nice to see you back, hope they get that door sorted soon.

Seroxat-chick - hope all goes ok today for you xxx

Not many plans for today (other than clean the kitchen floor) have 2 LOs here, so will do some things with them, but no major plans. Having a lot of problems sleeping at the moment (nothing new there) so starting to feel it, my throat doesnt hurt, but feels funny, as does my head and ive had a cough since just after christmas, that hasnt quite developed into anything, but is still loitering - sometimes i think a good nights sleep is all i need.
Right, better get on and do something
Hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Penelope Penguin: they were? hm. when i wake up (and when i get uncapped, later today) I'll have to have a look back through the threads and see what i can find :D ... for now though, OH is encouraging me to go back to bed, and since i've only had 3 hours of sleep (and i have a stinking rotten cold), i think i shall, because i really do need it. I know he won't though. *sighs*.

i disappeared for a while cos we were in the netherlands for the new year, visiting OH's family, and then when we got back it just seemed like we were frantically busy with everything - got some garage type plastic shelving (from Aldi for £20 each) to sort out the closet-of-doom and the kitchen pantry, and installing those meant pulling everything out and putting it back in again and that took a good couple of days, each, and then a friend fell ill and i was going round every couple of days to do some housework for her, until i got my cold, then i stopped going - the last thing she needs is a cold on top of everything else. Once its gone i shall restart though.

right.. sleep.. and hopefully the housing will have sent someone to fix the door...

:grouphug: to everyone who needs one!
