what do you need a cheque book for? is it a priority, and you can still order a cheque book with the other account, you just dont have the guarantee. I don't send cheques so I dont really know what the cheque guarantee means, my mum used to send cheques all the time but only because she didn't know that she could ring spaldings and order over the phone with her card. and can any of us afford £120 a year for something we might not use, my mastercard already has the card protection at £15 a year.

yeah good point cw , only thing i would probably use cheques for is for when my son does his soccer academy's..they prefer to have cheque payments , and in the past that has meant giving mates the money and getting them to write them for me , cos natwest charge £15 to issue a cheque!!!!!!

I admit that some people would still like the cheque book, and may need it for certain things, but the basic account does have a cheque book but not the guarantee card.

I use cheques all the time. Paying workmen, builders etc and eBay sellers who don't accept PayPal.
So if I can't get a cheque book from Citibank, I'll have to keep my A&L account for cheques.0 -

I have to agree with CW here regarding this cheque book situation, Ok most people wont use the cheque book whcih comes standard with the monthly fee account. Howvere there are additional benefits to the £10.00 fee, Annual Travel insurance, Card Fraud, Worldwide mobile phone insuarnce and Identity Theft Protection.
Also
Interest paid on cheques from day one
• No management fee for Euro and US Dollar current accounts
• Fee-free global transfers to Citibank accounts in 25 selected Countries
• £500 interest free overdraft, with overdrafts over £500 charged at a competitive 9.9%EAR
• Access to our Flexible Saver Issue 2 5.45% gross, 5.42% AER.
Ok I was not happy when I first heard about the £10.00 monthly fee but to be honest with a debit card, a cheque book and a those benefits which my credit history I am delighted. If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
So how quickly would my DWP payments (IS, DLA, CA) and child tax credits (CTC & CB) take to move over to my new account? How do I do it? All are paid weekly, except my DLA which is paid 4 weekly.
Sorry to be a pain.

I called the Tax credit helpline and they taken all the deatils of the new account and said it would be done within 7days. That suited me as I am paid monthly from them. They also asked me if I get CB, which I saud yes, they gave me there number and I called them to change the account details. Again they said it would be done within a week.
Keep your old account opened until you see your payments going in to your new account. If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0
