Is there anyone out there who signed up/upgraded before the cut off date of september 2011 not got the text from Orange yet?
I upgraded last feb and have not received anything from Orange saying my bill is going up. Does this mean I will be avoiding the increase? Would they be legally entitled to so if I do not get any kind of notification from them?

I have just called them and asked for a copy of my contract they said because I took it out with CPWarehouse they don't have it so I would have to go to car phone to get it, I asked who I had a contract with and funnily enough he couldn’t tell me. Looks like there in a bit of pickle over at Orange.

I also asked the burning question “If inflation reduces will my bill follow suite”?? Go told a big No to that question. Don't mistake this for a company that puts prices up to keep float like your local baker we all understand that and don't mind.

They asked their lawyers to find a way to make more money and they did.. expect your bill to keep rising they have opened the flood gates.

I am just writing an email I am going to send it to all there Chief executives I will post responses. I ain’t stopping until I get justice.

This is actually inline with my first question (although I haven't received any text so it may not be relevant)... To the best of my knowledge, I took my contract out with Dialaphone, not Orange and therefore it won't necessarily contain the Ts&Cs referred to... therefore do Orange have any right to increase my bill?
You were only killing time and it'll kill you right back

I read somewhere on here that the rise for contracts in the months before September 2011 comes in in February 2012, so I'm expecting my text next month (I can't recall whether that includes February 2011 upgrades).

I upgraded November 2010 and haven't received anything yet, if they don't tell us then we'll be in an even better bargaining position, but I'm expecting mine to come soon. I also took out my contract with the Carphone Warehouse, I wonder how that'll affect things, if at all!

I will be honest about this, I'm looking for an excuse to leave orange as this is another thing they have done this year to annoy me.

Interestingly as I have two phones with them I have only received a message on one of them, but if this can be used as a reason to Leave Orange it would be great.

What if I could prove that I have been struggling to pay Oranges bills each month and therefore their unexpected increase in costs would affect me? Surely then its detrimental so I can cancel the contracts?
  • Still havnt had a txt yet, when my contract is up i will go for whoever is giving me the best deal at that time.

    Hi,

I had a text re the 4.34% increase this morning. I am 18 months into a two year contract that I thought was an agreement between me & Orange EG they quoted me £35 PM & I agreed to pay £35 PM, apparently I am wrong, I have read their T&C's & in the small print they can increase the cost up to 5.5% (or there about).
I have sent Orange an Email explaining that I have been a happy customer of theirs for the last 17years + (I joined when Orange started in 1994) but I feel that this is a dirty trick & when my contract finishes next May we will be parting company. I hope that people who are annoyed about this will also contact them.
I have also informed the 'Which' magazine of this underhand trick of relying on the small print to get more money out of us.
  • Just LOL at everyone happily paying £400-£600 a year to Orange then moaning about an extra £1-2 a month.
It's not the Money it's the principle, I had a contract which I am honouring & I believe Orange should too. What if other company's did the same. Last year I had building work done on my house, signed a contract & the job was done at that price, I would not have been happy if 3/4 of the way through the Job the builder had billed me for an extra 4.34% (approx £2000). No doubt other mobile company's will be looking at this & if it works for Orange then others will follow.
  • how bloody cheeky havent got a text yet just read the forums here first i knew about it

does anyone know how it applies to people who have a discount on the orginal tariff?

Got the text from Orange earlier and that was after getting a letter from Santander saying my CC Interest rates were increasing by 3% so I'm not happy .
I Googled for " Orange Increases Prices " and ,surprise ,surprise ,got loads of returns .
One suggested that this increase DOES contravene OFCOM's rules as they say this ..( see below) .Be interesting to see if anyhting comes of this as I'm sure OFCOM will get complaints .

Would you not agree that such an increase is of " Material Detriment" to Orange customers . What does a Material Detriment mean if a Price Increase doesn't fit the bill?

    WHAT OFCOM SAYS...

    The Communications Provider shall:

    (a) give its Subscribers adequate notice not shorter than one month of any modifications likely to be of material detriment to that Subscriber;

    (b) allow its Subscribers to withdraw from their contract without penalty upon such notice; and

    (c) at the same time as giving the notice in condition 9.6 (a) above, shall inform the Subscriber of its ability to terminate the contract without penalty if the proposed modification is not acceptable to the Subscriber.

General Condition 9 does not mandate that consumers must be allowed to get out of contracts without any penalty when any term of the contract is changed. Consumers have the right to do so only when the change to the contract is likely to be of ‘material detriment.
