Orange had 210 Million customers in 2010 lets say less than a quarter of them are in the UK and that’s modest figures, so lets say its 20million the average bill will increase by £24 per year that’s an extra 480 Million in the bank because they found something in the small print. Its like they have won the lottery.

I don't have the exact figures but this is to get my point across. They hide behind the small 4% increase publicity this is easier for customers to swallow imagine if the they published the big figures.

I cant stand things like this I have two children and need to put food on the table and the way I see it I have 19 months to fight this and I will. :-)
  • buxb, from 2010...

The company, which is jointly owned by France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom, cemented its position as the UK's leading mobile operator with 27.9m subscribers, an increase of 3.4pc.

However, the amount of money collected per customer, known as ARPU, dropped 6.6pc to £35.50, compared to drops of 4.4pc for rivals Vodafone and O2.

I make that an increase of about £40M a month bang on what you estimated lol

So long as the fat cats can award themselves mega bonuses for turning profits around it's all good...

I was bit worried I would get it wrong :)

I am average guy who just wants to look after his family and give them the best start in life "I am Dad on a mission"

This is the final straw I have been watching my money slowly reduce each month I have even resorted to working 7 days a week just to get by. I am going to publish everything so people can follow suite if they wish.
  • Hey buxb05

It's fine, we all have to work harder and longer for less and less to pay taxes for the striking teachers who think they are immune to the economic forces. But that's off topic :(

I also asked the burning question “If inflation reduces will my bill follow suite”?? Go told a big No to that question. Don't mistake this for a company that puts prices up to keep float like your local baker we all understand that and don't mind.

This just makes me laugh, do you have any idea of what inflation is? If inflation is 4% that means prices are rising by 4%. If inflation falls to 2% prices are still rising by 2%! What you are asking and hoping for is deflation, which will not happen in the UK for a very long time

    Dear Orange Directors

I am writing to ask why you have increased your prices using small print to justify it. I am a farther looking to support my family in this hard climate working seven days a week. I took a contract with orange thinking I could trust you to be fair and up front with me. I called you today to speak about my handset and got told about your extra charge from your IVR this is unacceptable you should tell your customers by letter not by an IVR.....

When speaking to the advisor about this I got the impression he didn't really know why the price had gone up he kept repeating that it was because of inflation like a drone when did Orange stop being human?? He even offered me a credit on my account to cover the cost because he agreed it was wrong to increase the charges.

My children rely on me to support them and will for the rest of their lives you take money with no real understanding of the repercussion. You don’t have this right and I will not stand by and let you squeeze families out of their well earned money. I want you to take this as my official complaint before I go to Ofcom you have two options scrap my price increase or cancel my contract.

I cant help but think you have messed up managing your company via a very expensive merger with T-mobile and have to claw some money back somehow. Why should we have to pay for your poor management go to the bank and loan money like everyone else...

If I do a quick estimate I worked out you will get an extra £480 million a year from this and that is not acceptable there is no excuse for this.

I will not stop until this is corrected

Fair enough I agree but I wanted to see what they would say :-)
  • buxb05 - good for you, as a general tip when complaining to people you should give them a timeframe you are prepared to wait before taking action or else they are likely to treat it as 'venting' or subject it to their standard turnaround policies which involves finding the closest pre-fab response to match your complaint. If everybody else who was annoyed by the price rises did what you just did, the publicity would be enormous and they'd be forced to scrap it. Time to teach these arrogant French/German idiots they cannot just sponge cash off the British citizen without a fight.
  • Good point but i'm thinking my response will be quick and automated.... they will send me a template response
  • First response is always one to try and deter you, just don't accept it and ask for a contact on their legal team
