MSE News: Orange to raise monthly mobile costs

That was my earlier point simax, let's all study the T+C's in detail in the Orange shops, let's pour over them for hours and see how many sales Orange make that way? This culture of a**e covering is slowly coming to an end, people are wanting greater transparency these days and rightly so. Or else the logical conclusion is we end up signing 30 page contracts with our window cleaners in case they smudge the glass0

we tell you that there will be an increase in the line-rental charge (unless we increase line rental because of a rise in VAT) by more than the increase in the retail price index (worked out as a percentage) since the last line-rental increase and you write to us before the increase applies;
so they're no different, what's your point?
My point was that all networks are the same in rising monthly prices in line with inflation.0 -
Just spoken to Orange about this seems they have not thought of everything, I was calling to speak to someone about a fault and got told about this increase over an IVR (not happy) The guy on the phone didn't know what to say to me I challenged him over it and he folded and offered me credit to cover the cost. But only if I agreed to the charges I declined I ain’t letting this go I will fight it to the end.
I felt sorry for him as he ended up agreeing with me that this is wrong.. don't give up complain all the way to Ofcom teach them a lesson we are all feeling the pinch but Orange don't realise people will remember who stung them when things where hard. We wont forget Orange0 -
I certainly would not pay a penny more than I agreed to, hands up everyone who was told their plan could increase in price? Just because something is written in an agreement does not mean it cannot be challenged, the PPI is a perfect example of that. If enough people contact the watchdog and send letters to their MPs, then this has no chance whatsoever of standing. If, as is the usual British way, they just vent for two days then accept it, then Orange will think hey that worked great, now we can do the same with our T-Mobile arm of the business0

If you can afford a £40 a month mobile contract I'm sure you can afford an extra pound, Orange haven't ever raised their prices and in real terms mobile contracts are far cheaper than they've ever been0

Thanks DrBesty, you clearly understand inflation very well. In real terms people's spending power is decreasing rapidly. Maybe I can say to my employer tomorrow, if you can afford to pay me £x you can afford to pay me £x + 4%
Totally inexcusable, they're trying to rake back the falls in profits caused by the merger. The answer to this is to avoid Orange/T-Mobile altogether, I certainly shall when my T-Mobile contract ends. Any of the other operators prepared to LOWER their costs would clean up, but hmmm it's a Cartel is it not?0 -

Well said!0 -
I have x2 phones on orange and 1 on voda, orange never had an issue with, voda only had them not taking the dd in oct and customer service telling me they had.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I got the same text as did my daughter and I thought this cant be right but, seems we have to pay the extra. When it comes to upgrade time next year I will not be staying with orange.0

So, with all the analogies above, if my bank decides to up my mortgage payments during my 25 year loan agreement, do I get to cancel and keep the house?
No, their T+C's cover that eventuality. Just like any legally binding contract people enter into "willy-nilly" without reading the fine print these days.
If you don't like uncertainty, go PAYG. Then the can do what they like to your call charges etc...
there is a huge difference between the two.
Your mortgage rates are dependent on the base rate set by BOE from day 1.
Noone here or anywhere else has ever signed a mobile contract where our payments were based on the inflation rate.0
