The thing is, if they credit your account with how every much it will cost you extra until your contract expires, i bet they dont have to let you leave then. By then i bet everyone will have cooled down and orange will carry on as normal.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I'm not too fussed over this. Prices rise in everything else, why should we be surprised?
I was going to switch providers anyway, this hasn't changed anything.:www: Progress Report :www:
Offer accepted: £107'000
Deposit: £23'000
Mortgage approved for: £84'000
Exchanged: 2/3/16
:T ... complete on 9/3/16 ... :T0 -
Its not the fact there is an increase, its the fact theyre doing it to customers who are in a "contract". Virgin media did it not long ago to phone lines...they allowed people to cancel the phone line without paying if they wanted to. Why arnt orange doing the same thing?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Not everybody is in a position to switch though.
I took out a 24 month contract with them in March this year after being with them since 2006 so have a long time before I can even consider going elsewhere.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Last year I had building work done on my house, signed a contract & the job was done at that price, I would not have been happy if 3/4 of the way through the Job the builder had billed me for an extra 4.34% (approx £2000). No doubt other mobile company's will be looking at this & if it works for Orange then others will follow.
I would love to use this to get out of my contract as well, but it certainly isn't the principle.
It clearly states in the contract they can do this - they are fully honouring their side of the contract.0 -

I am not even 12 months into a 24 month plan, Orange you really dissapoint me
Is it going to net Orange that much more to add to the obvious millions they are already making. For the amount, and the amount of time left on contracts they could have shown some loyalty. The most recent customers are already on the higher prices.
Vote with your wallet and go elsewhere.
A big own goal Orange!0 -
I just rang them up to query whether the increase would be applied to the full tariff price or the price after discounts etc, was told by a manager (foreign call centre) that the increases only applied to new plans and not people on existing contracts, when I queried this and said why do I have a text then he said it was sent out in error to 7 million customers.
When I pointed out he was wrong and asked for his name he hung up on me.0 -

Ahh good old Orange Customer service, one of the many reasons I was hoping to use this price rise as a reason to leave. This and that when anything happens with orange they never inform me despite being a customer for 10 years0 -
Bit miffed that they're putting up prices, but it's only a very small amount - 86p for me - and everything else is going up in price, so why not mobiles. The phone calls you've made to the ombudsman will probably cost more than the annual increase...
Just because everything else is going up doesnt make it right. Are wages going up? No.
If these companies were in trouble and not making a profit you could understand it. Its just that they want to maintain already substantial profit at the level its at or more.0 -
I too have had a text and have spoken to Orange - I was told that head office had had a letter from the government announcing a Price Index Increase and that they had to do it, I've sent the following to Downing Street: I have just been informed of a Government Price Index Increase to my mobile phone bill by Orange - is this instead of changing the rate of VAT? will it apply to everything that the government can stipulate all businesses increase their costs by 4.34 per cent?
I cant get my head around this involvement of the Government. They wouldnt write to Orange saying they have to put prices up. And why only Orange
No, the way i see it, Orange are blaming the government for high inflation and to maintain their profits, they want us to pay more.0
