Supermarket christmas delivery slots

Thanks for the info, you've all been really helpful - I would like to shop with Sainsburys for Christmas for specific last minute bits and I've not ordered from them before so would get £10 first order discount which would br handy (I've only shopped onlne with Asda/Tesco before).
If I do an order now with them (or otherwise Asda) and choose my slot/book shopping, can I go in and amend the order nearer the time without it changing my slot (just keeps original one) or do I have to choose a slot from those left when I amend it?
Also, can you make comments alongside your groceries about date, unripe green bananas and do they get listened to by Sainsburys?
Thank you in advance, much appreciated xx0 -
Mine is still only showing up to the 18th, but I got a leaflet with my last delivery which said Xmas slots would be available from the end of November so it shouldn't be too much longer. I'll keep checking, personally I wouldn't trust a Xmas Eve delivery, in case lots if things aren't available but will try to get one for the 22nd or 23rd.0

When you go in to amend your order, you can keep the original time slot that you chose. When I last ordered from Sainsbury's (a few weeks ago) you couldn't make comments but with Tesco's you can. The only thing to remember when you amend your order is to check out again! I always make changes the night before my order is due and I've never had any problems. As regards sell by dates, Tesco are great for refunding near to date products but Sainsbury's aren't. I actually much prefer Sainsbury's but use Tesco's simply because of this.0 -
I have just done a Tesco order for tomorrow and the delivery slots only went as far as the 18th for me too.

the shops are only closed for one day.. it doesn't require such military planning,
Why anybody would trust their Christmas shopping to a late delivery slot is beyond me.
I live 9 miles from the nearest decent supermarket and I don't drive. I have my shopping delivered regularly through the year but I know that Christmas week the slots fill up fast. Thanks to the op I checked online and managed to book a slot for the 20th. Slots right up to Christmas are available for me but the 20th suits me better as I have to stay in for a butchers delivery.0 -
Mines been done for weeks. Just need to remember to update it or we'll just be having 6 bottles of wine for xmas that I put in to reserve the slot, lol. Might go start on it now infact. I'll be doing a normal weekly delivery for the 23rd. Everything else is bought apart from fresh stuff. I'll probably get that in the village.I have had my Waitrose slot booked for the 22nd for about 2 weeks now.
After many, many years of working in retail, I avoid the shops in December as much as I can. Eurgh!Illegitimi non carborundum.0 -
Sainsburys is 11pm the night before. Hopefully I'll remember otherwise it will be a very expensive box of cream crackers and a confused delivery driver.
Yep, I know what you mean. I've just put a frozen turkey on the order, just as a "place holder" . If I forget we'll have 2 turkeys for xmas - we always buy a fresh one from the 'proper' butcher
I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Hi, I don't normally post but tesco sent out an email with 'priority christmas slots' for their most regular customers (?) this afternoon with slots up until xmas eve. Xmas eve was already full but all the others were available. I assume they will be released to everyone else in the next day or so.0

Reminds me of one year we got 200 Lambert & Butler delivered as I'd used that to hold the slot then forgot about it. Imagine my OH's face when the Asda man delivered them  we didn't even smoke :rotfl::j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0
