Sorry for starting yet another new diary. I had an epiphany after watching the movie 50/50 (very good film if you haven't seen it) and decided that I wasn't going to work myself into the ground to clear my debt in 1,000 days. I have Cystic Fibrosis and therefore related to the movie 50/50 because of the illness connection.
There is a post on my last (and brief
) diary - https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3599509
So, I will still be around, not ignoring my debts but not trying to pay them off ASAP either. I'm also going to spend more time doing things that I want to do instead of working all the time. I started a Day Zero list nearly 200 days ago (http://dayzeroproject.com/user/ehallett25), and I really want to finish it.
Money-wise, my plan is to earn £30 a day (£900 a month) to pay my bills, rent etc, use my DLA (£73.60 a week) for food, petrol etc and then I have £400 that my OH gives me towards the rent and bills, which I can use for putting towards debts and paying back my mum (and maybe for having a little bit of fun too).

Hi Em, happy new diary :j
I am so glad you are finally putting your health first, but I really want you to stick to this. No waiting a month and then deciding you are paying of your debt at full throttle again. You need to look after yourself and that means sticking to this new 'revelation' and carrying it though. It really is important that you stay on this path and don't stray. If you come back in a few months waffling about paying all your debts back fast then I will be having words with you
Other than that I noticed that one of your 1001 things is 'Complete a framed cross stitch picture for Ellie to keep'. Do you have the design yet? If not do you have an idea of what you would like to do? As you may/maynot know I cross sticth so have charts/supplies here if it will help
Take care sweetie :A0 -
Hey Pap
Don't worry - this time I have really seen the light. I will not go back to my old ways.
I have already got a Popcorn cross stitch kit for Ellie (I got it ages ago and haven't really done much on it), but I would like to do the same for Kian. Not sure if you would have anything suitable for a little boy? I was thinking about Thomas the Tank Engine or something similar.
I know when they are older, they won't be that bothered by them, but I just wanted them to have something that their auntie made for them so they could pass it down to their children and remember me when I am long gone(even though I plan to be around for a long time yet
).

I can only agree with Pap.

Just ticked off one of my 101 items - do a 1,000 piece puzzle. As it's a Christmas one, I thought I would post a picture to get you all in a festive mood :rudolf:

Happy new diary!
I agree with the concept - do it at your own pace, and making sure you have the time to do what's important to you.
However, if one month, you feel like going at it full throttle, then give yourself permission to do so, but without the pressure of carrying on every month doing it.
Doing it at your own pace on your own terms means that you can go for it for a few months, or take a few months off if you want to, just paying the minimums.

Thanks for the replies everyone
.
Done well for myself today. I took my friend to her parent's bank about 20 miles away (she doesn't drive and her dad has just died. Her mum has dementia and is in a nursing home so she is having a really tough time). I refused petrol money from her so she took me out for a meal.
Just come round to my mum's and she went on a shopping spree in this store that she won £50 to spend in. She spent most of it on my sister and I to say thank you for driving her around a lot, so I ended up with a king-sized duvet set (lovely white one with pink flowers), some chocolate and a bottle of posh hair conditioner. :j. I really needed a new duvet cover as I only have 2 at the moment.
Right, better get my 100 questions done. The sooner I do it, the more time I will have to work on my 101 list.

I'm loving this cutting back. I'm having a whole evening to myself tonight without feeling guilty that I should be working
.
Finally started working on the cross stitch kit again. I think I've done more on it in the past 48 hours than I have in the 2-3 years I've had it. Claimed for another £5 Amazon voucher from the bingo this morning too.
