Thanks to all the people who've posted their responses from the Halifax. We swapped our mortgage from them in 2003 and I wanted to see how easy/hard it would be to put a claim in.After all your responses I'm off looking through my paperwork and I'll give them a ring this afternoon to put my claim in.Once again - Thank You."As we know, there are known knowns. There are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns. That is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns; The ones we don't know we don't know."

:j Drafted a letter to C&G to claim refund. I was charged £225 MEAF in Dec 2005 and was quoted £50 MEAF in 2001 after requesting a early repayment quote.
After reading other C&G responses in your forum, I decided to give them a ring instead. I spoke to a chap called David who agreed a £175 refund plus £13.56 interest straight away and said teh money would be in my account within 15 days. Result!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Graham - Walsall0 -
I rang the C&G to enquire about their position on exit fees. I moved from them to Abbey last October. They said because I had re-jigged my mortgage in 2005 I had agreed to an exit fee of £225 and was therefore due no refund. I could be being a bit naive here but I wonder if I should accept this or challenge it. Any advice gratefully received.0

Yippee, I have just telephoned the hotline number for the Woolwich as advertised on your main site and I was thrilled to be told that there was a repayment due to me of £235.56 pence from when I repaid my mortgage in full early in 2006. Many thanks for the help on this, its fantastic and I am assured the money will be in my bank account within 5 days. Kudos for Martin!0

Hi
Another success story. Paid off our mortgage in December 2006. Abbey charged us £225 for the privilege. Our mortgage agreement stated £85. Downloaded template letter 3 weeks ago - received refund of £140 yesterday.
Result!

I paid my mortgage off in November 2003 (Halifax).
I just phoned and am entitled to £35 apparantly as the fee at the time was £75 so I was told, I can't verify that as I can't find the relevant paperwork.
I did ask about interest and the woman said the Halifax aren't paying interest on what people are owed, the payment amounts are wrong on this page. It should be here within 28 days.
I was told the fee currently stands in at £175 not £225, and the "Will it pay interest too?" bit needs changing from yes to no.
Many thanks for the tip Martin, I was only made aware of it by todays newletter.0 -
My £100 cheque from Halifax arrived today - 1 week after I called them.0
