I'm coming to the end of a 2 year fixed deal witht he halifax. One of the charges they've listed is a Repayment Admin Fee charge of £175

Am I able to claim any of this back?

    Thanks

Only if they differ from what is stated in your mortgage contract
  • Don't give up hope if you can't find all the paperwork.
I found my Abbey account number and wrote to them giving my details and the approx date of the end of loan - I now have a cheque for £35!
    Good luck with your quest.

    Hi All

A huge thank you to Martin and his team

Just want to say that after reading about MEAF refunds I got in touch with The Halifax with whom I settled my mortgage back in 2003. Despite having no remaining documentation regarding my mortgage, I still qualified for a £35 refund, which although only a modest amount is always very welcome - all for the cost of a phone call and a stamp. Well worth doing.

My £35 cheque now received & paid in [to the Halifax...] & it didn't even cost me a stamp! The phone call was all it took.
Expect the worst & hope for the best...

Knew we had remortgaged in 2002, rang the Halifax BS telephone number quoted. A very helpful Guy informed me in less than 5 minutes that I was due a £55:00 refund.

Been making the most of the advise from the site, so many thanks for this. Suggested to my sister that she does the same to.:A

For months I've been meaning to look into reclaiming the exit fee from my mortgage 5 years ago but was always too busy. Also it meant dragging out all the paperwork from a very acrimonious divorce at the same time.
Last night I got out the papers, found the account number and the fee paid and rang them up today on the number in the article. (S'OK - the mortgage and equity were transferred into my name a week before it was paid up so any refund is legally mine.)
Within minutes I was told they would repay me £120 plus £25.22 interest making a nifty £145.22 in total at a time when I am off work and my earnings will be hit by not working overtime and weekends.
Couldn't be better. So Bank and credit card company - here I come...........!
