I don't think jonnypb should waste his lender's time and resources with a fatuous query.

No lender has increased their MEAFs in the last two years. Therefore there is no way that jonnypb will be entitled to a refund.

Hot on the heels of a PPI success this morning (£3,650 refunded). I have just come off the phone to the Halifx about mortgage exit fees and a further £50 richer. Many thanks to Martyn and everyone else. We're going to take our children on a once in a lifetime holiday with the money - I am soooo excited!

    Hi All,

Just like to say a big thank you to Martin and his team as I've received two cheques this month - one from the Abbey for £126.00 and one from the Halifax for £75.00 following Martins articles.

I've also had £480.00 in bank charges refunded before the court case started - now for the credit card fees.

    Regards Mark.

My apologies, I just reread that jonnypb's mortgage with the Halifax is still open.

Halifax have corrected their MEAFs so that the correct figure is shown on the redemption statement for some time now, so I can't see there being any potential refund due.
  • Changed lender from RBS to Natwest in 2005 for a better deal. Was charged £225.00 exit fee although in the original mortgage aggreement it stated £75. Sent the template letter to RBS on 05/06/08 and received a cheque for £150 on 10/06/08. Success!!!
  • Digging out old mortgage papers took five minutes. Phone call to Nat West took less than 5 minutes. I'm £125 better off! Thanks Martin
  • Just phoned abbey to reclaim having switched. Have just been told that the fee in Jan-2006 is the same as now. Anyone ??
