Argos won't give me my item paid for with gift cards

If they've accepted the trade and given him the gift card, then that's an end to the matter, just as it would be if they'd given him cash - the use of a gift card makes no difference. The contract, in relation to trading in the games, has been concluded.
Not if there something fraudulant taking place in relation to the vouchers.0 -
I don't think anyone is saying Argos should be able to permanently keep the vouchers and the games. The vouchers/games be may be evidence of fraud. My understanding is they are investigating the circumstances of what has gone on and perhaps we should wait on the outcome.0

I Completely agree, Argos shouldn't be left with the games and gift vouchers but at this stage it is possible they are looking into it with a view to still giving the OP the vouchers, or they believe they have another reason to keep hold of the games.
I get the impression the OP doesn't want the games back so it's possible the OP hasn't actually asked Argos to give him the games back.
well it seems the OP does not want to contact the exec office at Argos which i gave details of a direct email. it is them that can fastrack of find exactly what is going on as at the moment Argos ahev the games ( if they have not already passed them on) along with the gift vouchers and all the OP has is a receipt for an ipod they refuse to give him.0 -

The OP has tried his luck to make some money of this trade-in scheme and unforunately for them it has been flagged up. In my opinion the OP probably knew they were breaking the terms and conditions which is why they went to the different stores as it would have looked a bit obvious going into one store with lots of copies of the same game.
All of this "poor OP left with no games or vouchers" line you keep coming out with is a bit premature and I think the OP needs to take a bit of responsibility for getting into this situation.0 -
I don't think in the end the OP is going to end up with neither the games or voucher. Argos are obviously looking into things.

i am just stating that at the moment Argos have the games and the gift vouchers while the OP has a receipt for an ipod. no one on here knows the full facts surrounding this apert from the OP. Argos HQ are the only ones that will be able to sort this mess out, no one on here can do this for the OP. it does seem suspicious to why the OP does not wnat to contact Argos HQ about this.0 -
Texranger - I'm getting a little tired of reading "op does not want to contact Argos HO" in every post you make.
Can I ask where you make this assumption? I posted yesterday that I will email Argos HO. Unless you have access to either my email account or that of Argos' HO then you have no basis to keep stating that I don't want to or haven't already contacted them. Frankly it's less than helpful to keep reiterating your assumption. How is it suspicious to ask for advice before deciding what course of action to take?
At the end of the day argos sell the games for more than they bought them from me for. I'm not complaining about that am I? As far as I can glean from people's replies then the sales were final.
I also have a reciept that details everything. The sale is a separate matter - Argos can ban me from trading anything in again if they wish, frankly after all this hassle I doubt I'd bother with it anyway.
I have never, nor ever will take a stolen or copied anything anywhere. It's a little tiresome that folk think that way.
Once again I thank people for their useful comments but as far as I can see everyone is just going round in circles debating the whys & wherefores of the trade in part of this transaction.
I will post again when I hear back from argos.0 -
The promotion was for people to trade in their old games and as already mentioned, people who were acting in a commercial manner were prohibited from taking part.
The OP has admitted that they were buying games elsewhere with the intention of trading them in for a profit.
In anyones books, this is "acting in a "commercial manner" and by doing so without informing Argos, I would say that something fraudulent did happen..
fraud (frôd)
n. 1. A deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain.
2. A piece of trickery; a trick0 -
I cant remember all the details of this thread so i'm going to ask outright.....
OP, did argos mention at the time that the "fraud" they suspected was you trading in games in a commercial entity? If not, I'm wondering if perhaps we're over complicating matters. Perhaps Argos have had instances of people using forged vouchers to buy goods or perhaps had a security breach in which someone got hold of the template of vouchers or actual vouchers themselves?
If you paid for the product completely in vouchers or even mostly in vouchers......this would probably flag for them as the average shopper would not have £400-£660 worth of vouchers. I doubt the average shopper would have more than £100 of vouchers. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
