It's taken me ages to catch up....
I had thought about a day out in Barnard Castle today, good job I no-noed it as they had a truly Biblical cloudburst, ankle deep water swirling down the streets. I used to teach there, though never on a Thursday. It all looked VERY dramatic.
I did go to Darlington, heavy rain but no cloudburst, though when I got back home, we'd had two deluges and I'd missed them, but not the massive puddles to wade through in sandals, argh.
Then my feet slipped on the bike ramp coming in the front door and son had to pick me up off the hallway floor. :o Good job it was his day off.
I was unhurt, just pride dented and son didn't help by applauding when I asked him to give me a hand.

Front door wide open throughout. Thank goodness the park opposite was empty and nobody walked past. (There's no road at the front).

On the frugal front, I had enough energy to go to two pound shops and to the super-cheap greengrocers, woo-hoo. Sharon fruit or doughnut peaches, anyone?

    Glad you weren't hurt mcculloch29,
You were caught in the same rain as the rest of us...I have few relatives but they live in BC.

And I have been in those shops in Darlington;)

I cant keep up with this thread I only come on here of a night well after 6 ish and 6 pages a day you gals are getting through.....

Everyday this past 2 wks theyve said rain but weve had lovely sunny and very warm days, we could do with a night of rain to soak the garden im sick of watering every night........But so glad to get the washing dry .................

We have the torch (golden matchstick) here today on the East Coast, im sick of hearing about it...TV radio , obviously I didnt bother going to see it.....Im tired out and sick to death of everything the past week or so, phew me, dont life get you down sometimes?.........

I did put Look East on, more because DS2 knew people from school dancing in Ipswich & wanted to try to see them - why didn't they run the news for 5 minutes more to see the torch officially arrive in Ipswich?

PAH, I'd be having DS phone & change his address, on that at least, & give me a nice little cheque before I gave him that piece of post! I understand it's DH's way, but does he realise how hurtful this is? I'm sure he wouldn't physically hurt you, but it is causing emotional pain.

PAH, not only would I be holding on to the £900 cheque until I had the money he owed me and had phoned in front of me to change the address, didn't he also promise to do the garden? So I'd be holding on to it until he did that too, or at least some of it so the gardener could just do the normal amount. And DH really needs to know that those things he are saying are hurtful. If he knows they are hurtful he shouldn't be saying them, and that being 'the way he is' is no excuse at all.

Yip pops we're in for a rough one. I've been up since 4 because of the rain pelting on the window. Did you get the thunder about 6.30am?

My sister is coming to spend the day with us so I won't have to do the school runs in it.

Mince and onion pie for tea tonight. Hoping to source some autumn gear for my girls cheaply today online too. Kids clothes are quite expensive. The sooner I can hone my sewing machine skills and build up a collection of patterns to make our own clothes the better.

Smiley, that's exactly what we were saying re Turn Back Time. That things have not changed that much and are going backwards at high speed. People now can't afford to be silly and wasteful, those days have gone.

Just popping in quickly. Mardatha I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that, but I wish I was wrong!

PAH - bailiffs aren't allowed to take children's toys. So don't worry on that score.

It is absolutely pouring down here, bouncing off the pavements. I think we will be having a short 'necessaries' walk here this morning and hope it eases off later!
