At least you got your money back Byatt Maybe a different brand or even corned beef instead? i think a tin of corned beef is expensive actually

I've just won a brown wool skirt from ebay for 99p. That's to add to my knee length denim one and wool grey/black one. I wear skirts on the not so chilly days in the winter because I can get much more wear out of a skirt (in terms of it needing washing) than I do trousers or jeans. It leaves just my tights to wash through. Manky maybe but it's a tip I picked up fom my grandma ;)

Anyone else never actually got their winter clothes put away this summer? I didn't and not going to bother now. :(

Beaurocrats smileyt are the devils representatives on earth. But you can beat them without copious amounts of garlic or stabby bits of wood! Throw the facts at them and mention that the same system happens every bloody year for you, just teach them how to scroll back through their on screen account for 'Miss smileyt' and lo and behold the eedjits will see - voila.

I must admit they make me paranoid, when I went into our bank accounts and it showed a balance of 8 quid instead of Johns benefits I went through the ' OMG theyve stopped our money , OH will have a bloody fit, what can we do.......etc' all this in 10 seconds but the big man above - literally top left corner -Martin informed everyone on facebook about Nat. someone pressed the wrong button.west cocking up everyones accounts and I breathed a sigh of relief!

Right am off to rescue DGS from the child minder or is it the other way around?? As Dd has had her shift altered again by Mr M and cannot get there on time, any excuse to pick him up :rotfl:

I keep meaning to make these marshmallows:

Just because they look so gorgeous. I need to try them out as thinking of xmas hampers but don't know if they would go sticky.

Smiley - hope you can get the JSA sorted out quickly. Silly sods.
Off to Alton Towers shortly with our Merlin passes and lots of cereal bars to stop us buying food. Fingers crossed it won't rain all weekend.

(((((((((((((((((((((smileyt)))))))))))))))))))))))) Please, please, please post. Goodness knows that if I waited until I was in a good mood to post I would post about once a month. Although some might think that is a good thing ;) Have a virtual cuppa and some biscuits and I hope you feel better soon xxxxxx

fuddle I really like that coat thingy. My friend has said she will give me sewing machine lessons so I might have a go at that. Would you mind posting a link to the pattern please as I can't find it on the site.

I've made vanilla and lemon marshmallows. I'm still waiting for the lemon ones to set properly, but the vanilla ones are incredible. So much softer and lighter than the shop ones. They are like eating clouds. The recipe I used is here-

I used golden syrup instead of the liquid glucose. It made about 40-50 3/4 to 1 inch square marshmallows and I cost the batch at about £2, so a very cheap present to make. You do need a thermometer and an electric whisk. I have a kitchen Aid mixer so that made it easier. I got my thermometer in Wilkinsons for £7 if that helps.

I'd better go and make the chocolate ones. I'll let you know what they are like. I have to try them before I give them as a present don't I ;)

Just made playdoh for the kids. Here's a recipe if anyone fancies it:

    1 Minute Playdough recipe:

    You will need:

    1/2 cup of salt
    1 cup of flour
1 tablespoon of cream of tartar (Cream of Tartar is a natural powdered raising agent for use in scones, drop scones, soda bread and a wide range of other recipes)
    1 tablespoon of oil
I cup of boiling water (from the kettle) mixed with
some food colouring (OR a the contents of three blackcurrant dazzler fruit tea bags for lovely fruity rich purple)
    What to do:

Put all the dry ingredients in a bowl and then mix vigourously with the hot water.

Makes wonderful playdough which lasts for ages in little plastic sandwich bags.

Thanks for the link Possession they look fantastic. I've put my marshmallows in a tin lined with baking parchment with an extra spoonful of the cornflour icing sugar mixture to stop them sticking together. I know that they don't keep for long, so I would say make them on the day if you can or the day before giving them out if you can't manage that. This is sort of what I had planned for Christmas presents. http://www.madysonsmarshmallows.com/shop/product/maddymelts-gourmet-marshmallows/
Have fun at Alton Towers :)

After all the chat about Enid Blyton, I picked up a hardback version of The Wishing Chair stories for £1. I was given The Wishing Chair again by an older girl when I was at primary school, she was in Primary 7 and would walk me up to school. She gave me the book as a leaving present at the end of the year as her family were moving away. I lost the book when my parents last house was broken into and trashed (so they could get the copper tank and pipes), but the boxes of books and nicnaks were ruined by water. So when I saw this I had to grab it.

Still no news about jobs..... its really getting me down.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Unix, it's tough looking for jobs; and hard not to get down about it. Can you volunteer temporarily which will add to your CV too? Also, try and have some treat time, even if it's just a coffee out.

I had a complete set of hardback Enid Blyton books passed on to me when I was little and for a kid who had nowt they were like gold to me. I was watching countryfile on Sunday and found out that I had been to the places that inspired her to write the books - Corfe castle area, always wondered why it felt so special there.

Love the marshmallow and play dough recipes - thank you for those.

Just got 5 bags of marriages SR flour from the local market for 50p a bag, from the website it seems to be good quality, much prefer decent flour for cakes tho I use economy for scones. My stock cupboard and freezers are looking healthy Im happy to say.

Hugs to all bye for now G
