grandma I loved browsing the sewing pattern site. I have decided to put this K3305.jpg on the list of 'want to do's' as I think it wouldn't be too taxing and a useful thing to have for the winter, indoors and outside come the spring.

Ergh, my knitting on circular needles? I have given up! I'm crocheting my legwarmers and going to try to find a snood pattern that I can try on straight needles. Another case of running before I can walk me thinks. *roll eyes.

Hi everyone, thanks for your good wishes. Still feeling low. House stinks of goat curry (treble bleurgh!) due to lodger boy wanting to entertain his new boyfriend ......

Fuddle, lakeland also do a funny kind of dryer thing. It's like a bag that has hot air blown into it and you hang your washing up inside it. It should be listed with the heated drying racks. I think it said it cost 14p/hour to run? Might be worth looking into.

Byatt hope dd is OK and can find somewhere suitable.

Very glad I don't have anywhere to go in this dreadful rain except to walk the dogs - and they don't demand a long walk when it's raining so hard. I had to drag Bruno out from under the canopy over the front door this morning, poor dog! And Tessy plodded along behind me looking like the very picture of misery.

Oh !!!!!! - Post has just been and brought letter from JSA saying they think I left my work voluntarily. I am not going to take the Lord's name in vain but I really could. I suppose I'd better fill in the bl**dy form and try to restrain myself from saying what I really want to say ....

I promise I won't post again until I am in a better mood. This has just set me off and I am crying again . Bah.

Smiley you post as much as you like on here, s*d the mood, especially if it makes you feel all the better for it. I'm sorry it's rotten for you at the minute.

Fill in that form, post it off and let it all go with the letter. It will be sorted, although you might have to be patient with the goat curry smell ;) Hugs luv :) x

Hi fuddle, here's a lovely snood/cowl pattern, I've started but not finished one
    http://knit1slip1.com/2011/01/19/january-cowl/?blogsub=confirming#blog_subscription-4

love that poncho, I want one. Actually i want my mummykins to knit me one. She's just knitted DD a fabulous jumper.

Sitting here listening to the electrician doing the hoovering, bliss! Sadly he's just tidying up his own mess, but he's far more thorough than I ever am, might have to see if he'd like to be my cleaner on the side, if ever the sparky job stops paying so well!!

I bought DD the Enid B "Adventure" series, we're reading The Castle of Adventure at night-time, but DD is very much like me and has about 5 books on the go at any one time, so it alternates between that, a Horrible History, a Shakespeare story (fabulous, plays rewritten as stories for children, wish every child could have a set, makes Shakespeare very approachable) and a 1940's 'girls' annual' :)

Oh Smiley - just find something soft (not Bruno!) and give it a good punch!

Just popped in to say thanks to Lyn (and others!) for the white sauce recipe - just made sauce for my weekend special and it's great! Just goes to show you can teach an old cook new tricks :rotfl:

(((((((((((((((((((((smileyt)))))))))))))))))))))))) Please, please, please post. Goodness knows that if I waited until I was in a good mood to post I would post about once a month. Although some might think that is a good thing ;) Have a virtual cuppa and some biscuits and I hope you feel better soon xxxxxx

fuddle I really like that coat thingy. My friend has said she will give me sewing machine lessons so I might have a go at that. Would you mind posting a link to the pattern please as I can't find it on the site.

I've made vanilla and lemon marshmallows. I'm still waiting for the lemon ones to set properly, but the vanilla ones are incredible. So much softer and lighter than the shop ones. They are like eating clouds. The recipe I used is here-
    http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/577053
I used golden syrup instead of the liquid glucose. It made about 40-50 3/4 to 1 inch square marshmallows and I cost the batch at about £2, so a very cheap present to make. You do need a thermometer and an electric whisk. I have a kitchen Aid mixer so that made it easier. I got my thermometer in Wilkinsons for £7 if that helps.

I'd better go and make the chocolate ones. I'll let you know what they are like. I have to try them before I give them as a present don't I ;)

Smiley, I'm so sorry you are feeling so sad, you are such a sweetheart I hate to see you unhappy, and getting letters like that doesn't help when you are low. Please keep posting, I know how much it helps me just to get it off my chest on the forum. (((((smiley)))))

Thanks all for the tinned ham advice. I have received a full refund...still, it's a shame about the ham...it's part of my winter campaign food.

Smiley - call the Job Centre, make an appt, go down and explain face-to -face, with as much evidence as you can gather, and with a smile on your face - human-to-human.

I know it's a hassle but it will be worth it to get your claim straight. Those standard letters are a pain the @£se.

One step at a time, one claim at a time, one new chair at a time!

With love and thanks for all the help you've given in your lovely posts :A

    Flo xx
