    Morning all

Thanks GQ - it's going well so far - my first morning as a nonnie and I'm quite excited about it! :j

Off to Mr A later as a treat for after my blood tests. Have gaps in the stockpile!

On the pie front, I live on my own, so can't eat a whole FB in one sitting. Are there other pie in a tin options? I saw little steak and kidney puddings in tins in Poundland yesterday, but I don't do innards :p

FB make a little pie as well - my Mum gave me one, but I've no idea where she got it from. (To serve one).

HB have been selling little beef and onion puddings (suet pastry) 2 for £1 I think
  • I'm having a major internal debate this morning. I saw the Xmas Radio Times is out at £2.50  wheras the cheaper guide is 90p. But the cheaper one is filled with lots of stuff about soaps that I never watch, & the RT is one of the things that actually makes me feel Xmassy at a time of year I struugle with.

    Hmm - tough one....

    What would you do?

Kitschy - good luck with giving up smoking :T
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

    kitschy what is a nonnie?

My mother in law drove down to take my two to school today. i was so greatful.

So pleased to hear the authoritites in Scotland are taking this weather situation seriously. I'll be thinking about you all up there today. It's bad enough here, I've no idea what it must be like up there. I have family in Stirling. They're staying put today and family just over the water from Greenock. They are in a static caravan on a loch edge and so worried about them.

I thought it was just me! I always get the cheap guides at Christmas and always regret it because, like you say, full of soap gossip etc. I remember reading my grandma's radio times when I was growing up , always a nice traditional picture of father christmas. I'm going to spend the £2.50 this year :)

fuddle - nonnie = non smoker (not to be confused with nonniemouse, which I know nothing about :p)

gardenia - I second spending the extra on the tv guide. It's a small pleasure :)

Slo cookers down to £9 in Mr T at the mo - just wanted everyone to know.

Thanks, ordering one now. Used to have one but it never cooked very well, it was very old. Willing to try again as I know how OS and popular they are!

So much to catch up on here... :D

Hornetgirl - we bought a Beko 5kg washing machine last year for £130. It does me fine for our 5 person household, use it every day and the only time we had a problem was a nappy liner in the filter but we sorted that easily. Time will tell if it lasts though, we just couldn't afford an expensive one. It had reasonably good reviews though.

For all of you who are worried about food defrosting in power cuts you might like to copy my trick - put an ice cube in a plastic bag and place inside freezer, must be bag not container. If when power comes on you have an ice cube that has changed shape you know temperature has risen enough for it to fully or partly change shape.

Hope this makes sense as am posting from phone again while sitting in traffic as DH attempts to get me through gridlock for pre-op assessment.

Will catch up on posts later but am thinking of all of you in the north, hope you manage to stay safe.

I've been disappointed when I've bought the RT lately, used to be several good articles, interviews, regular columns- eg John Peel, but there's not much like that in it now. However, I will be buying the Christmas one, its always top of my christmas shopping list along with the turkey and sprouts :D

    kitschy well done!
