I lost my cuticles on hands and feet, and remember putting Vaseline in my ears and up my nose! And then there are the other bits that dry out
my skin also thinned so much I used to find I was bleeding just from pressure on it. But it was worth it. I know they've linked it to depression, but to be honest, I think most people whose skin is bad enough to warrant it are probably pretty depressed anyway.
I have castor oil (I used to do castor oil wraps), so might try some. I have some out of date hemp oil that I use as body oil and might try that too, as I'm about to run out of cleanser. I used to use rose hip oil on my face which was fabulous. I swear my eyelashes got longer! It will be a good way of using a few things up and decluttering, as well as avoiding spending any money, although I will need conventional cleanser for travelling.
Yeah I remember taking my big pot of vaseline up to the pub and applying it liberally all over face, up nose, ears etc... Luckily I was surrounded by great friends who didn't take any notice at all but it was awful... and omg the redness  It was a temp fix tho as still have problems nowI will give it a go, thanks Frugal. So this will work for dry skin too?
The OH says I am a marketing mans dream. I lurrrrvvvveeee my pots.I actually have very good but dry skin so this will certainly be interesting. I also have had a facial religiously for about the last 15 years, once a month. My cosmetics and girlie stuff is where I spend my most money, along with clothes.
Yes, will def work with dry skin... The proper method includes castor oil but I haven't been able to get any so just use oil... I am not kidding, its brilliant. I will eventually try it with castor oil but for now I just use EVOO with a few drops of Rose Absolute (expensive much ) because it makes it feel like a luxury product!!! You can keep your little pots... Just fill them with evoo with your fav essential oil!!!
Somebody else said their DD is on Roaccutane... It is very effective but the side effects are dreadful... If it were me, knowing what I know now, I would get her to start on the evoo method now, finish the course of Roac and then carry on with evoo... The evoo will help with the dryness that she will get with the roac. PM me if you have any questions x
Yes to whoever said "are we all watching kirstie with oily faces!!!" well, i will be now as I am about to oil up and flick kirstie on :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
ETA the castor oil can make skin dry, so maybe the pure oil method would be best for you... experiment until you get the right balance.
also, someone else said they had squeezed out their evening primrose oil, i do that too, also vit e capsules0 -

Off to Ald1's later to get some grit stuff. They are selling 10kg back for 4.99. It's the clear stuff, not the orage stuff which I always manage to tread all over the house.
[/QUOTE]
I don't know if anyone else has replied as only got up at 7pm after sleeping for nearly 20hrs - I hate when my body does this, never saw any daylight again today.
Anyway if you have a Mr M garage anywhere near you they are selling 10kg grit for £3.50 I picked up a sack last week when we filled up the car, and as hubby was playing his bowls miles away over weekend but came home each day we need to fill car up again, so am hoping to pick up another sack tomorrow.
I hope everyone is staying warm and safe the forecast for Scotland is so bad, here most likely we will miss the worst we usually do, although it means when we are hit everywhere grinds to a halt as no one knows how to deal with bad weather, bad weather usually goes right over us from Pennines to Welsh mountains.

We do have an emergency fund available for such eventualities but it isn't very big. The absolute max we would be able to spend is £400. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good, reliable, inexpensive replacement please? The old one was an LG and it lasted 8 years 2 months, which doesn't seem very much to me. Before that we had a Candy which I think clocked up about 14 years, but memory may be a bit dodgy on this.
Meanwhile mil has kindly offered the use of her machine, so will be lugging our dirty washing round there later.
I've just bought a Bosch from John Lewis - very good on water and energy consumption - it was £393, free delivery and comes with a 4 year guarantee. And it is FABULOUS!!!!! quiet, efficient, clothes come out clean and really well spun, even in a 15 min quick wash. I am really really pleased with it! Can't remember the exact model no. but it is on the website, and is an online only one. HTH xx0 -
Kitschy well done you, I wish I could stop, it drives me nuts, can sleep for 20 hrs + and don't wake up for a cigarette, just the loo so why can't I stop when awake, I hate the things, but keep trying and keep failing. I keep telling myself when I wake up after such a long sleep I shouldn't touch them as already body will be actually free of the nicotine, but do I nope, as soon as I am awake enough I light up. There is a stop smoking thread on here, I have joined but am a total failure so far. So wishing you all the best and keep thinking of all the stores you can buy, like the tomatoes

Thank you x
I am coming up to 11 hours - so far, so good. Had a few moments but nothing serious! Try the Allen Carr book - it's all really obvious stuff, but it works (used it when I successfully stopped for several years - from 20 a day to 0 a day, happily). Stupidly, I ignored the "just one puff" chapter, but this time I bought it instead of borrowing it, so I can re-read it at any time. By the time you've finished the book, you're a non smoker and you haven't even noticed. You CAN do it - it's the cigs telling you you can't xxx0 -
I bought the Alan Carr book from Audible a few years ago, never got round to putting it on disc and not sure where its stored now, and I changed my CC and email so had to set up a new account with them, so not sure if I can find the details to download it again. I listened to some of it but then forgot, so will dig around in my storage ( external hardrives) and see if I can find it. You are doing so well. Good luckNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I hope all in Scotland stay safe, I don't know what to make of the weather at present. We're cold, wet and stormy here, it's very unusual for December in Queensland to make you want to wrap yourself up in a duvet... normally we're lying on the sheets on bed under a fan on high!
I'm doing more cooking and possibly redecorating the tree today. Need to make some sweeties!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Frugal - I get castor oil from my local health food shop, so it might be worth a try. I was lucky in that 2 rounds of Roaccutane sorted me out. Whoever said their daughter is using it - she may need artificial tears if her eyes get dry. Get the expensive viscotears (gel) rather than the basic hypromellose as they are much easier to use, particularly if you don't have a mirror handy. She may also get very thirsty as her mouth will dry, so encourage her to chew gum as excessive drinking can become a habit (I still have a problem with it). And as frugal says, feel free to PM me if you want ideas for coping strategies. It's not pleasant, but in my case was worth it.
BTW - anyone with spots round the jaw or chin.... When did you last clean your phone0 -
Greyqueen I take my hat off to you as a fellow ME sufferer, its that that has me more in bed than out these past few weeks, although I have Fibro or maybe MS as well, for anyone with ME that can work I admire that you manage your condition so well, I cannot do so, total failure in the energy stakes, along with the fags......no willpower, or to lazy either or both......have a good day and stay safe out there, wind getting up here now gone from no breeze to blustery.
Just going to have a nice warm bath, its bliss now whole bathroom has been tiled, there used to be two air vents in there that no amount of blocking up would stop draughts, now window only break in the wall and heated towel rail warms up the room nicely as two outside walls can make it rather parky in there........
Stay warm, safe and on your feet today folks.Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch
