DH says our 'act now' means putting all the bins and stuff in garden in the garage as they're likely to be thrashed around.
We have 5 tealight candles one half used yankee candle and no batteries in the torch. I need to get over to the preparing for winter thread.
We're going to get gusts of upto 65mph so not as bad but still bad enough. I now feel really silly having a load of meat in the freezer. If the electric goes off that's a lot of money gone. Tins all the way huh?!0 -
:grouphug: Dodgy hugs to everyone oop north - sounds like you're in for a corker - hope you are all tucked up safely.
Re cheap flannels for people wanting to try the oil facials - I just had to go into a different town for work and saw 4 flannels for a pound in Poundland.
My big news today is that I officially became a non-smoker at approximately 11am. I know that as an MSE'er I should have done this yonks ago but I have been putting it off, and after fully digesting the Allen Carr (not the toothy comedian) book I was ready to take the plunge.0 -

Well done - I'll be rooting for you having gone through it myself 11 years ago. Just a hint about cravings - distract yourself for 15 minutes when a craving hits and it will pass and after the first time you achieve this you will know for sure you can lick it."Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -

wow, go you :j well done on making the decision and commitment. I'm not a smoker but my Mum has never been able to stop even though she's tried umpteen times. There's a lot of free help out there, grab anything and everything to help you get through the tougher times.you can do it!

Kimsmum - best wishes. Maybe your sister feels a bit like I do as I often "need" help with hospital trips etc. yet I hate the having to need it IYSWIM. I know (on an intellectual level) that the person offering to help doesn't mind helping, but it still bothers me & I hate that I can't usually return the favour. For me it is all about being dependent. However if I was helping "me", then that wouldn't bother me at all (if you can follow that!).
I do know what you mean, but I took her to hospital this morning. I have gone round everyday, cleaned, made beds, cooked tea, so all her OH has to do is help her in the shower and with dressing and serve tea.
Then she had a go at me for not bringing the bins in a soon as the rubbish men came. I told her I was here to help not her servant, her OH could have done that. Then she said a few things then told me to go.But she has texted me about 10mins ago to remind me I said I would take her shopping on Friday lol.:eek:Taking it one day at a time0 -
Not looking forward to tomorrow's weather - Beeb are forecasting wind up to 40mph for Dunfermline. Made sure I did all my shopping today though so shouldn't need to venture out at all! Poor OH walks to and from work though, he's going to get blown about something awful.February Grocery Challenge - £100.87/£180February Don't Throw Food Away Challenge - £0.60/£1.500

First time I've seen a red warning too.. I am seriously scared and worried.
That maybe the pink shrimp factory will be damaged !:eek::eek:0 -
Go Kitschy! Good on you - you can do it!
Completely O/T, but please can I have any spare hugs as I am a bit all over the place this week.
On Monday I got confirmation that I had passed my final exam and am now fully qualified! But then today I have received the final letter from our solicitor confirming that my dad's estate is all sorted out. I know it's good that it's sorted, but it seems to underline the finality of things.
The two things are so linked in my mind as whenever I visited dad in hospital in his last week he always worried that my looking after him was stopping me studying. One of the last conversations we had was me reassuring him that I'd be granted an extension to complete my work if need be.
Sorry, for wittering, I'll pull myself together, but OH is out for the evening and I just need a hug.
Oh well: torch batteries replaced, candles found, a loaf of bread in the BM and I'm still planning to give myself that luxury facial later on!0 -
fuddle don't panic about your freezer. If there is any spaces in it put bottles of milk or water in there now and fill small spaces with carrier bags or something. Meat takes a while to thaw and it can be cooked and frozen again if it does thaw. You can cover the freezer with blankets and duvets if it goes off . You must keep checking the electric in case it comes on.
Hugs for you 7weekwonder.0
