fuddle I'm another Virgo, so send him to me when you get fed up and I'll finish the job. I can out sulk and out strop a toddler so mardatha's RV should be no problem
(If you remember the advert where the Mom throws a tantrum when her son starts playing up, that's what I did to DS2 after he decided not to have the terrible twos and to wait until he was 4 to start instead. I didn't throw myself on the floor, but I did stamp and shout and pout my way around Tescos)
I love the trolley by the way fuddle :) I have this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Typhoon-40001-Spots-Shopping-Trolley/dp/B001KBYZ0E/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1339528334&sr=8-5 and wouldn't be without it.

Hello to all the newcomers :hello: Welcome to the mad house. We might not be completely sane, but we have cake :D

    wb greent :)

    The best of luck stiltwalker

Today has been a semi contructive day. I made a very nice beef stew with some YS braising steak I found lurking in the freezer along with the leftover beef. I tried adding in some reduced veg I had bunged in the freezer, but it wasn't successful. So I took out the beef, pureed the lot and then added in more veg. I also made chicken curry using the remains of the YS cooked chikcen I brought yesterday. Then the baking urge hit and I've baked two huge banana choc chunk cakes. DS1 says it's not up to my normal standard, but he has eaten two big pieces of it so it can't be that bad.
He has his Maths GCSE exam tomorrow so I'm wondering which nails to bite. After that he only has his electronics exam left next week.
I'm feeling not exactly bleugh, but just a bit deflated at the moment. Tomorrow i have to wait in for a parcel and a locksmith, but hope to get out of the house at some point.
I'm reading a lovely book at the moment called La Dolce Vita by Isabel Coe. It's full of family history and her familie's chocolate recipes. I might have to see how much a copy of it is, not that I need more cookbooks but one more can't hurt :A

I think it's time for a crucial decision........ice cream or custard with banana cake???

    Take care xxxxxxxx

You could have both. :D The hot versus the cold works really well.

An interesting day, but we sold the sandwich van for roughly what we wanted, so some good news at last. The money will eventually have to fund another car, but the insurance alone was almost £2K a year so it will be good to get a refund on that. Plus we have a constant 2 weeks of catering orders so some money will be coming in while DH continues to look for jobs.
On another note, I remember reading somewhere on here about children being teased for their choice of packed lunches. Today DD (7) told me whenever she has packed lunch the girls make fun of her because she has granary bread and they all have white. They say it's disgusting. It's her choice to have it, she doesn't like white sliced bread, but it upset her. It's a shame children are so mean to each other. But a fact of life of course. I gave her a few tips on what to say so we'll see what happens.
Hope everyone has a good evening.

My dad used to make elderflower wine so we often used to pick them with him but it was many years ago so I'm not quite sure what they look like now. However I *think* that next door has an elderflower tree. He never goes in his garden and I don't think he'd dream of using them, wonder if I could ask?! I've saved a Bombay Sapphire bottle to put flavoured vodka in for Xmas (both toffee and xmas pud flavour went down well last year) as it's such a gorgeous bottle but i'm sure I could get some more bottles somewhere.

Hi Evie. So pleased the elderflower cordial has been a success. Byatt's AF bottles look brill for the job. I just wish I had some :( cordial not bottles.

I did see what I believe to be an elderflower tree on the way to the butchers this morning. On the roadside in what looks like no man's land. I'll wait for my book but I'm so sure I have it right this time. No sign of book at library so might be a case of missing the flowers and waiting for the berries.

Off soon to watch Jamie does something about free range keiv's and Tesco. I don't know what but looks a bit interesting to me... beats footy anyway.

Mrs OG makes lemoncello (lethal stuff :D) and she puts it into small fizzy pop or water bottles and bungs them in the freezer. I can assure you, the last thing on our minds when we drink it is the bottle!

    SDG what does YS mean?

My DD had this problem when she first started school (so 5) She wanted to go onto school dinners because she was picked on for not having KitKat's but flapjack. I actually spoke to school about it because her confidence was being knocked and she was still jut young. The school she is in now though wouldn't let the children have kit kat's but they are far too 'nannyish' with their rules like I've mentioned before my little one isn't allowed HM popping corn with honey (She still gets it, I'm waiting for the call to call me in, and I will fight this one)

Hope your DD is ok. Children are really horrid to each other, mostly girls. I feel for them growing older.
