I've just read an article in the Daily Wail (I know..I know) about statins. They now say that a lot of people (mainly women) feel exhausted when they're on them.
Well, I'm on statins and I've told the doc over and over that they affect my muscles in such a way that walking has become difficult. I have a spinal problem so it's not muscular, but if the large muscles on each side aren't supporting the spine..................?
I'm also feeling more and more tired lately. I know age will have a bearing, but do feel exhausted after doing little. The statins were prescribed because of high cholesterol and family heart disease, but I think I might go back and ask if I can at least reduce the dose, say take one every other day or even less.
Sometimes think I'd be better off without them! Won't come off without talking to doc though.
Hope everyone is OK and DRY. Seeing all the pictures of flooding in the South East and Mid Wales is awful.
    Normal people worry me.

Hello again - finally reclaimed the PC from DH and his Ebaying (but only for half an hour as he is "watching" something apparently...) He's also got to start looking a bit more seriously at job vacancies with his redundancy coming up in a few weeks - but he has to time it right as it makes more sense to hold on for the redundancy payment rather than going of his own accord. He has been with the company for 15 years so the least they can do is pay him what he is due.

I've also had a monstrous day at work - there must be something in the air today which has brought all the meanies out of the woodwork. I have done a lot of tongue biting today.:( How I wish I could find another job but with DH's employment being so perilous right now I feel I have to put up and shut up for the time being.

On the bright side, the elderflower cordial has turned out really well! I seem to have made rather a lot though :o so will have to try and find some room in the freezer for some of it. I saw a recipe somewhere online for elderflower jelly (as in jam-type jelly) which sounds delicious so I might make a batch of that at the weekend if I can summon the energy.

Better go now before DH turfs me off the PC!

    Evie xx

Hi Evie. So pleased the elderflower cordial has been a success. Byatt's AF bottles look brill for the job. I just wish I had some :( cordial not bottles.

I did see what I believe to be an elderflower tree on the way to the butchers this morning. On the roadside in what looks like no man's land. I'll wait for my book but I'm so sure I have it right this time. No sign of book at library so might be a case of missing the flowers and waiting for the berries.

Off soon to watch Jamie does something about free range keiv's and Tesco. I don't know what but looks a bit interesting to me... beats footy anyway.

fuddle I'm another Virgo, so send him to me when you get fed up and I'll finish the job. I can out sulk and out strop a toddler so mardatha's RV should be no problem
(If you remember the advert where the Mom throws a tantrum when her son starts playing up, that's what I did to DS2 after he decided not to have the terrible twos and to wait until he was 4 to start instead. I didn't throw myself on the floor, but I did stamp and shout and pout my way around Tescos)
I love the trolley by the way fuddle :) I have this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Typhoon-40001-Spots-Shopping-Trolley/dp/B001KBYZ0E/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1339528334&sr=8-5 and wouldn't be without it.

Hello to all the newcomers :hello: Welcome to the mad house. We might not be completely sane, but we have cake :D

    wb greent :)

    The best of luck stiltwalker

Today has been a semi contructive day. I made a very nice beef stew with some YS braising steak I found lurking in the freezer along with the leftover beef. I tried adding in some reduced veg I had bunged in the freezer, but it wasn't successful. So I took out the beef, pureed the lot and then added in more veg. I also made chicken curry using the remains of the YS cooked chikcen I brought yesterday. Then the baking urge hit and I've baked two huge banana choc chunk cakes. DS1 says it's not up to my normal standard, but he has eaten two big pieces of it so it can't be that bad.
He has his Maths GCSE exam tomorrow so I'm wondering which nails to bite. After that he only has his electronics exam left next week.
I'm feeling not exactly bleugh, but just a bit deflated at the moment. Tomorrow i have to wait in for a parcel and a locksmith, but hope to get out of the house at some point.
I'm reading a lovely book at the moment called La Dolce Vita by Isabel Coe. It's full of family history and her familie's chocolate recipes. I might have to see how much a copy of it is, not that I need more cookbooks but one more can't hurt :A

I think it's time for a crucial decision........ice cream or custard with banana cake???

    Take care xxxxxxxx
