Aw Meme - you poor thing. Post holiday blues are common - but should they be going on this long? Mind you the weather doesn't help, seriously gets me down.
McCulloch - your poor friend, mind you that was a lot of food - 4 rolls!!
Good luck with the fridge hunt, GQ. DO you have to risk death by going the superstore - can't you do it by t'internet?
I am a bit CBA today too. Perhaps it is the weather. Had a terribly painful knee yesteday that I am going to have to get checked. Internet symptom checker (cos we're all doctors now) Points to GOUTY KNEE  GOUT!!!!!! I can't have bl00dy gout - I won't have it!!! I am not even 50 yet. However a little nagging voice in my head reminds me that mum had chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis before she was 40 and gout is a form of arthritis, I believe. ANd with the pain in my toe that I've had for a while.... Gout though!! I have a vision of a stout old man with a ruddy face, leg up, toe swathed in a ginormous bandage holding a glass of port :rotfl: Anyway, said knee is better today so I am cured  Will try to follow a low uric acid diet for a while to see if that helps
Oof, I suppose I'd better get on. I have a meeting with a student who is going to complain about the fact that I've failed him. And then a, hopefully, exciting meeting with boss to see if I can wangle a trip to do some teaching in Kuala Lumpa later in the year.
Have a goodun allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
:hello: guys, please can I join you? I've been lurking on this thread for ages, and feel it's about time I said hello!
Mcculloh - what a nice friend you are! I don't know anything about that kinf od situation, but maybe she should go and see her GP? Best to get these things sorted sooner rather than later
meme - totally hear you on the CBA moodhave a cuppa and a sit down and some "me" time, and see how that does
Fuddle - am liking the trolley - that'll make things a lot easier
VJsmum - glad your knee is feeling better, I avoid googling symptons on the internet as I can quickly convince myself that I'm about to die..!
Have a good day everyoneBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I really have to touch and to hold, VJsMum, I'm a trifle odd that way. Well, I'm a trifle odd in a lot of ways, but the less said of that the better. I'm melodramaticising for comic effect as I can get most of the way to at least one superstore on the cycle routes.
I like JL; I bought my washer and my counter top freezer from them, 7 years and 5 years ago respectively, no trouble with either. I like their ethos and they have the nicest staff. I should be bitter as once, over 25 years ago, they passed on the opportunity to make me one of their management trainees.........:rotfl:Goodness, how different life could have been; still they've prospered without me!
Right, have taken Mr B's vital statistics with a tape measure as the spot a fridge has to live in (total kitch is 6 x 6 feet) is very specific and they're ain't no room for fat fridges in this life. I am gathering notebook and pen, and calculator and will hie me off to shop for appliances.
When I bought the washer, I'd done my research, checked they had them, marched up to the salesman and said: "I want to buy a washing machine- I want one of those." His easiest gig of that day, I reckon. Their delivery men were superb; they took one look at the size of my flat, unpacked it outside before carrying it into the kitchen and took all the packaging materials away, too. All I had to do was undo the immobilising bolts, shoehorn it in and hook 'er up.
Well, shall report back on the doings in retail land later on. At least it's raining which means that I can leave off going to the lottie in clear conscience. I killed 2 huge slugs on my last visit, mwah ha ha, so the veggies will be slightly safer than they were before.
Wish me luck, ladies. Loathesome though it is, it's less bad than trying to buy new shoes................:D:p:DEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Good luck with the fridge GQ. I'm a fan of JL too - my parents have recently had their washing machine replaced by them because it apparently wasn't economical to fix, so the aftercare is good too. Oh and I'd use the vinegar, in fact I think I am using vinegar older than that.

I would assume as vinegar is a preservative then it would be all right to use anyway. I just sloshed some on underarms of jumper before putting it in wash to remove deoderant etc smell.
DH just gone to pick up dd after History exam and then going to get preservative/treatment for his new potting shed which is his pride and joy. Convinced him to get a proper workman to put in insulation panels later than him trying DIY on it.
