Softstuff - have they checked his heartbeat? Irregular heartbeat can cause all sorts of issues. I have very low blood pressure (that of a child, I believe :o) and it can cause light headedness and, whilst not faints, that swimmy stars in your eyes feeling when i get up too quickly.

Oof, I am feeling a little out of sorts today - aching everywhere and soooo tired. No reason I can think of - better start improving soon cos I'm going to see Coldplay tonight! :j:j:j:j Very excited. Unfortunately, when I booked it I thought this week was half term so it wouldn't matter if DS had a late night - think he may be a little tired at school tomorrow.:o

I would also like to find time today to finish my new raised bed and plant my remaining plug plants in it. And hoover upstairs and do a significant amount of marking. I'm not sure being here helps

My SIL works nights and has done for over 20 years - she looks far older than she is. She says that she likes the amount of time off it gives her as, to earn the same money, she would have to work far more days. Things is, they aren't short of money but they do buy bl00dy silly things IMO, so are often "cash poor"

    Oh well, best get on...

I'll read the Beeb's Greek article later, Mardatha thanks for the heads up. I'm so lucky in that I've never had to work nights, some killer early starts in the years I was a registered childminder were bad enough. My son does shifts - excluding nights and finds that throws him out of kilter a bit with a 2pm start one week and an 8 am the next.
Cooler here today and a 20 min trike ride in the offing as I missed a parcel being delivered by 10 minutes yesterday. It's a new hot brush sent free to review by Amazon Vine (at least I hope it is!).
Hester, sympathies. I haven't had a pay rise in 3 years but don't anticipate a cut either, that must be horrible.

Hester I hope the work news is not bad news.

Back from drs and now on another course of antibiotics, given more because they hope they work than actually getting a diagnosis. I have never been predictable where working out what's wrong with me is concerned as I defy all the "paper symptoms." Went a year in agony with ovarian cysts before they found out that's what was wrong. I was always told to eat more bran!! She is going to arrange a blood test too which will include one for ovarian cancer (family history), to put my mind at rest. There was some tenderness over the right side when gently pressed by her, didn't have to leap off the bed! She also said here were some white blood cells in sample and asked if this was done after taking antibiotics but I said no, it was before. Aren't white blood cells for fighting infection?

Had a slow mooch round town but didn't feel well enough to hang about although it's lovely out there and the town is getting ready for the Jubilee.

Mardy, that is terrible, it's things like that you just don't think about, medications and such like, it's taken so much for granted. Not exactly related but does anyone watch The Walking Dead? No meds, food is hard to find and water of course, (besides the zombies)...it makes you think.

Softstuff: possible shortage of potassium? I only know this because my 89 year old uncle is in hospital having collapsed last week and this is a possible diagnosis. Quite how that fits with his banana-a-day habit, I don't know. He also has low blood pressure and slow heartbeat.

Just popping in to say Hi 'waving' just caught up on all the posts - not read any since Saturday as actually been unchained from laptop. Been busy in garden - I do a bit sit in sun then do a bit more, repeat. Hopefully my Vit D levels will be normal now as I actually have a tan, which is something I never get apart from when pregnant and once in Greece during a 50C heatwave, can only presume menopause has caused the change so looks as if I will have to buy some sunblock, as not had any in since children were at home as hubby refuses to wear it and I used to just reflect the rays and stay milk white, just making sure I slather on lots of baby body lotion each time I come in and so far no redness just gone light brown.

Actually used mobility scooter for first time ( tried last month and it shorted out due to a damaged cable within 10m ) and went to park with son and his children - they loved having a ride sitting on a knee each as I drove along and son jumped on the back for a short time ( hope no-one took photos and complains about me to DWP as not allowed really but only did it for a short way in park and we didn't cause any problems for anyone, but it does worry me I admit, but how could I not let grandchildren ride on my knee, son I am not so happy with).

Today have a headache, well mild migraine and I have dentist in a couple of hours and you must give 48 hrs notice to cancel, so just hoping the drill ( have to have 3 fillings) doesn't make it worse, at moment its just bearable, might ask dentist just to do one filling, will see how it goes.

Byatt hope the doctor says its nothing sinister and a course of antibiotics will sort you out.

Hester I hope it is a discussion as they say and all goes well.

Sending healing, love and hugs to all who have summer colds and other assorted ails. It is always seems a insult to have a cold when sun is shining and warm.

Well screen is making pain worse so better leave laptop alone till after dentist

:hello: Welcome aboard, cheapskate. Newest arrival to de-cloak gets to to make the tea for their first day, mine's milk no sugar, ta very much.

Softstuff you have impeccable timing with your [STRIKE]hospital [/STRIKE] holidays, don't you? Hope your Dad isn't too poorly and that they can find something and fix it easily. Could it possibly be low blood pressure? That can cause what appear to be faints..... Safe travelling.

OK, chick, virtual kettle on for when you're back from work, bet you'll need a brew after the trials and tribulations in Provincial City, and before you head off lottie-wards! :D

Doing a food stocktake this afternoon - we seem to have a full pantry and freezer, but not sure how many entire meals are there, IYKWIM. Bet I can get away with spending 50% less on food for the next couple of weeks, at least.

Washing out, DD trying out going to the potty (she's been sitting out in the sun on it! :rotfl:) - all jolly good fun here! At least it's free entertainment, watching her being so pleased with herself and trying to empty the potty down the drain! :o (Sorry to those of a weak disposition!

Hi folks. No more flashing here I am pleased to report!

Scared myself witless last night as I was sawing a chunk out of my drainpipe to fit a rainwater diverter (have converted two unused wheelie bins into waterbutts) and a bit fell off the top of the drainpipe from near the roof! Looking up I can now see that the drainpipe is slanted and doesn't meet the guttering, so whoever put the drainpipe up has used this bit to connect it as a quick fix! Have reported to Housing Association and hoping they don't charge me, as bits shouldn't really go falling off the tops of drainpipes. I'm only 4ft 8 and not exactly Mrs Muscle so it's not like I was going at it with a wuther! The contractors the HA used 15 years ago when I moved in have since been proved to be cheapskate cowboys so I'm not surprised. I think I have a case against not being charged for the repair but it is a bit worrying, even though all a bloke has to do is climb up a ladder and wedge the missing bit back in, should be two minutes of a job but I can imagine the kind of charges that would come with it!

Hester, any news on the job meeting yet? I get the Militant, the communist league newspaper (don't ask, it's a long story!) and in the US the workers there are having a right time of it with employers cutting here, there and everywhere, and it looks as if it is going the same way here :(. Still, fingers crossed that you come home without bad news.

Cooler here today. I love the sunshine but really, British people on the whole are not made for hot temperatures are we? At least today I can get some things done without feeling drained. The dogs are relieved too - they were running around in the park today instead of plodding.

Softstuff, I hope your Dad is OK and you get to spend some quality time with him outside of hospital. How long are you in England for?

Hello, cheapskate, mine's tea with soya milk, no sugar. Thank you.

Mardatha what is a sugar shrimp? Never heard of them! Will go and look at that article about Greece. That's a terrible situation.

Anyone heard from Ginnyknit? Or kidcat? She hasn't posted for a couple of days, I think.

Hugs to anyone who is poorly with a lurgy. Byatt I hope the antibiotics work this time.

Off to try and put up my plastic walk-in greenhouse. Should be fun ..... xxx.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts, not good news, I shall be losing £100 a month, the amount of lunch duties we do are being cut. Not sure where to turn. It will take me a while to pick myself up from this.
