Oh Hester, what a bummer. Will you be able to claim any HB or Council Tax benefit to try and lessen the blow?

Oh heck Hester, that's a scarily large amount to lose, are they just not going to pay you for doing lunch duties or are they going to let the little cherubs run riot unsupervised at lunchtimes? Neither are good options.....

They keep testing his blood pressure, he is on medication for that, but apparently the last time that was fine.... your guess would be as good as theirs GQ.

I was doing this a handful or so years ago. My blood pressure appeared normal until they put me on a tilt table and induced a few blackouts - my blood pressure falling away to near zero briefly. To the amusement of OH I celebrated my 43rd birthday being knocked out in the geriatric ward. Treatment was to increase the salt in my diet, reduce the caffiene and increase the volume of liquid I consumed. Seems to have worked, not had one since.

ETA: Hester, That's awful, given how you're treated they should have been giving a significant pay rise.

Nice to see you nuatha :) I've never worked nights and could never get my head round how the divvil you cope with altered sleep patterns. I guess the answer is you don't really?

Hester that's really awful. I'm really sorry. :(

The Greek situation is very scary. Been to the doc's, another £7.65 to pay for prescription. I was chuntering all the way home but now I feel so flaming lucky to be living here with these measures in place to get the help I need. More anti-d's for me. I was told today that to expect to expect to be on them for the next year as doc thinks, and I agree, that I have tried to cope with depression/anxiety since my teens that now I have asked for help it's going to be a long process but the great thing is I already feel so much better.

Well I've been sourcing shopping trolleys so I can walk to the next town (3 miles) for my supplies and knock the super market shops on the head. Also to be able to stop the Coop trips (too expensive) would be great. I am so sick of prejudice about a shopping trolley. If I hear one more word about looking like an old farrrt I shall scream very loudly in that person's ear. You can get some funky trolleys and drag bags... a persons bag doesn't define them and for gawds sakes anyone scoffing at me needs to get a grip on life! (sorry, so tired of jibes about going grey etc I'm only 32 and trying my best to have a positive outlook on my life. I love my grey hair, it's me and I'll love my trolley too! Anyway. Not till September when the kids are both in school full-time.

Oh, MIL brought me some of her rhubarb so crumble and custard is on the menu tomorrow and I'll be using powdered milk for the custard. Thanks for that suggestion the other day ;)
  • FUDDLE - if they don't like the idea of a shopping trolley you could offer taking the wheelbarrow as an alternative, I rather feel that would make a real shopping trolley look sooooooo gooooooood!! - I am so naughty! Cheers Lyn x.

My DGD hated the idea of me getting a trolley - associated trolleys with getting old - die! :( I have a super funky trolley - it is a designer one - but I am worth it - well my back is! :D

:) Ha! Another fine brewmaker escapes my evil clutches. Drat and double-drat.

HH, that's grim. A lot of shortfall to make up.:(:( Are there any other moneymaking options on the horizon? They're bluddy lucky you don't sue the bu88ers for the assaults on you by the pupils. Surely an employer is responisble for ensuring a safe working environment for its staff, or is education a whole different ball game? Thinking of you, pet.

I've been running (or rather biking) to and fro between the lottie and the green waste section of the tip as I attempt to reduce the biomass of couch grass on the lottie. It's cool and grey here today, over 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. Not sure which way the weather will turn next but I didn't water the peas in case it rained overnight and the effort would be redundant.

Still eating the self-sown baby chard from the tattie patch which has come up thickly. Not sure I can eliminate it all even with having it with every meal. Can't stay to adult-size where it has grown. Do people think it might be transplantable? I suppose I have nothing to lose by experimenting.

Going to have a snack as mealtimes have been screwy today due to running to the plot after w*rk. Sausages. And chard.

((((hugs)))) to you all. GQ x

Fuddle, I've seen loads of people of all ages using shopping trolleys, my DD is 26 and she uses one. There are so many cool ones out there, and very practical. Get one that you will also get a lot of pleasure from looking at. As well as being great for all terrains and steps etc. Paying for a cheap one will be a false economy I think.

    Evening Everyone!

So sorry HH, what a horrible thing to happen out of the blue. Honestly what do they expect people to do?

Hope the antibiotics do the trick Byatt, it is not nice feeling seedy all the time.

GQ - I transplanted my chard (and will be doing so again) so I guess it can be done! BTW did you know you can eat baby beetroot leaves too? And the latest cheffy things are 'micro veg' - essentially any thinnings - served up as garnishes in expensive restaurants. Just think of the money saved going to restaurants:rotfl:.

Many thanks to Kate for the tom seedlings, already planted and the rest distributed to Mrs OG and Lady Across the Road.

As Mar is being a bit secretive about it (I think she fears a sudden shortage), Sugar Shrimps are pink shrimp shaped sweeties (natch!), made from a sort of hard chewy stuff - personally I prefer the banana shaped version!

Hooray for getting some of the tomato mountain off my hands.

I spilt a`bout a` te`aqspoon of tea` on my la`ptop thiqs morning, a`nd now it'qs typing like this grrrrrrr. QSo don't expect to see me much till it's fixed!"!"!" Because unless I keep going back over it I'm getting these double letters.

I had to go to my friend's to type up my urgently needed course notes for my curry workshop tomorrow, and my W only Works in upper case...same thing happened to DD's tiny bit of liquid - keyboard up the pictures. It's eXACTLY the same make and model - she says it was just a dribble too :(
