Mardatha, you didn't work in education, perchance? Or in some other stressful occupation? Amazing how many people with stress fall sick when they finally make it to a holiday when they haven't been ill before when they're really stressed. If you see what I mean.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Short_bird that's exactly right - I work in education and while some people (eg my brother!) think we get far too many holidays, many of us literally crawl into them on our hands and knees. I usually spend the first few days of any school holiday just getting my energy back.
I too have a summer cold Byatt, started yesterday with sneezing (thought it was hayfever) and extreme tiredness (thought I was just too hot) but this morning on the way to work I got stomach cramps and felt sick.
Came home, went to bed, now still have upset stomach but also my neck glands feel a bit sore. Hope it's just a 24 hour thing, yours too!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Bu&&er, bu&&er, bu&&er, we have a meeting at work tomorrow to discuss an 'alteration' to our pay. Funnily enough I don't think it will be going up!

Do you know I reckon this shift work - particularly nights - is a killer for our health. I worked 24 hour shifts as a community midwife and it did for me - really it did xx
Hester - sorry to hear about work xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
I had to stop night caring after just over two years because my health deteriorated .

Fingers crossed it's nothing bad Hester. Heck, they could surprise you and give you a pay rise...Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Hester:- Hope it's not as bad as it sounds:sad:
I agree with those who think that working nights affects your health. Working nights has a huge appeal when children are young. I know, I could put mine to bed and be back in time to take them to school! It was a no-brainer for me. However, it certainly changed my 'internal workings!' and here I am not working and some days struggling to keep myself going. It make you wonder?Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0
