I know what you mean, (about Approved Food) as a lot of what they sell I wouldn't class as food!
I do agree with you, that there are an awful lot of processed, snacky-type things on the site BUT from time to time they do have useful ingredienty offerings. You've just got to get your timing right. I remember a while back they had 40 gramme sachets of ground coffee at 12 pence each. I bought about a year's supply. Now that was an order worth making. Also coffee beans not long ago much cheaper than retail, and jars of lovely raspberry jam, and two litres of red wine vinegar for about a quid. And. And. And.

I only buy what I would otherwise buy elsewhere, otherwise there would be no savings (and far higher dental bills from the amount of sweets they sell!!).

Which is precisely what I do, too. I can't be tempted by sweets and biscuits when I don't normally buy them. Unlike a certain Scottish poster who could probably talk herself into buying several year's supply of wine gums in one order. Just in case she gets snowed in, you understand.

Fortunately for my bank-balance I can't get onto the AF site at the moment due to very dull technical issues with my computer. I keep getting the emails from them and if I could order stuff, I know I would. They are very odd, because sometimes they offer fantastically cheap deals on things that would be useful to me and sometimes their prices are the same or more than I can get the same things for locally or at the pound shop.

At the moment I can't move here for sunflower seeds, rye flakes, bagels and German sunflower bread . My goodness me, they were so cheap and things I would have bought anyway, albeit not in quite the same quantities.

Welcome to the madhouse, Dee. I hope you enjoy your visits here and find them entertaining as well as informative.

Chip in whenever you like, it's the most gentle and friendly part of this forum, although some of the posters are totally barking. But mostly harmless.

Well im back from my holiday from hell........I took off with my 2 grandsons on 10 April Norwich airport, I was only in the flight for half hour when I was taken very poorly..........Just before the hol I had a slight sore throat and was very tired for days, I thought I just needed a break from my 24/7 caring duties..........My sugar hit high , I was vomiting and very unwell......The hostess put an anouncement out if there was a dr or nurse on board to which there wasnt........The flight was 4.5 hrs....

When we landed a stretcher came on and took me off to hospital with the 2 boys, all luggage and hand bag got left on plane, They found I had gastroenteritis, and bronical phuemonia.....................Intensive care for 5 days......

To cut a very long story short I spent 5 days in hospital, my son had to make an emergency flight out to come look after the boys for me as the hospital said to me they cant have children in the hospital.........

I was insured for pre existing condition which is type 1 diabetes, after quite a few days I got my hand bag back so I was able to give the hospital all my documents, I gave them the ins cert to show I am insured, but the hospital dont want to deal with that company so they made me give them my card details, and they so far have taken £900 just over...........:eek: and emptied my account which is for all the normal household/car bills etc...

As soon as I got back to UK my other son took me to the bank to explain all, bank say that I was not in any fit state to authorise them to take my card details and that they should persue it with ins co........

So theyve opened up a "fraud investigation"...............Its been a dam nightmare, im still in bed so wore out with no energy, I phoned my gp and asked for a home visit yesterday and I told the receptionist I would leave the front door unlocked so he can let himself in, next thing Iknew was the dr was standing over me with a bottle of lucozade form the fridge .!! my blood had dropped to 2.6..............thank god he pulled me out of the coma.....Top dr I say..........
Ive had the ins claim form come yesterday so when I get a bit better I shall start to get it filled in...........................My sister as spoken to the social worker when I was in hospital and explained the situation and they are keeping hubby until this Tuesday for me, phew me I hope I can get some energy together before Tues come at the mo im drained, what a holiday eh, its cost thousands so far......BUT at least im alive ......

GOOD GOD SHEGAR! I'm sure we're all very grateful that you're home safely and hopefully on the mend. "Nightmare" or "Holiday From Hell" doesn't quite cover it.

Very, very good luck with the insurance company and "eff off" to the bank. "Fraud investigation"? How could they?

When you get your strength back I'd pay good money to be there when you have a discussion with them about that.

    Get well soon, please
