Greyqueen:- I had a look at our gain in income after reading your post and we are better off by £14 a month! I think we are lucky in that our mortgage has not changed for so long unlike those of you paying rent. I know my Mam's rent has gone up more than her pension rise. She has a yearly merry-go-round of receiving her state and work pension rise and trekking to the council office to declare it to see if she will still get her reduction in her council tax. As you said what comes in is cancelled out at the other end.:(

I am always reading about how we should have been paying more to our mortgage while it's at this level, but I don't know where we would find the extra money to do that. We sat down this week and did yet another 'How much do we have, how much do we spend' list. We are definitely spending much more on petrol and food. We are managing to pay the bills but like a lot of people we are very uneasy about the future. DD and I went to A*di yesterday and she was very impressed by the prices especially the fruit and veg.

I was really trying to distract her by taking her shopping. On Wednesday she had a bump in the car while driving back from work. Both she and DGD were fine. Because she is pregnant we were going for a 'make sure everything is ok' scan. The baby is ok and it was wonderful to watch the screen and see it's arms and legs waving about, and yes I filled up! :)

    Lovely soaps Mar.
I used to have a rat called Roger, he used to sit on my shoulder, he was hidden in my very long hair, all you could see was his long pink tail mingled in my long dark brown hair.
I've just changed my mortgage, the repayments have gone from £300 to £600, ouch.
    Hugs Hester

I love pet rats, my GS had them and they do seem to like sitting under your hair - they're very cuddly funny wee things. I like ferrets better though, but they do smell.
We've got a tropical downpour again here, hen run is like the Somme and am wondering if I should buy them and cat some wellies. Actually feels like thunder as my head gets itchy on the inside with thunder.

Mar - I am beginning to wonder if you are my long lost sister :rotfl: I love rats too, we had lots at one time due to a slip up by the pet shop (sold us a baby boy instead of a girl, as a companion for our girl)
Also had ferrets as a kid and love them too, even their rather pongy scent. As having had a good look at a certain website, my favorite perfumes are rose/geranium/violet! But then there is the K thing, I do like my greens...

Well, result last night. Three empty mouse traps. Let's hope that it stays like that.

Mind you, my DH did a thorough job, with pieces of wood cut to precision size and screwing those on to the fence where the gaps were.

:) Morning all. Just a flying visit whilst I finish my tea. There is something approximating fine weather outside and I'm rushing to the lottie to try to squeeze some gardening in before the weather changes yet again.

The Radio 4 weathercaster just before 6 pm last night described this weekend's weather as "everything including the kitchen sink" so gawd knows what'll be happening in a couple of hours.

Enjoing the ratty tales. Never kept them myself (I was a hamster-keepr as a girl) but aren't phased by them. When I was an attractive young thing (for about 10 minutes circa 18 if memory serves :p) I was once standing watching a street performance when a young gentleman standing behind me deposited a tame rat on my shoulder - I was wearing not much of a top at the time, so the ratty was suddenly on my bare skin.

I turned my head to come eyeball-to -snoot with a friendly albino rattus rattus, picked it up gently and handed it back to him with a cool ;"Is this yours?" I think my lack of upset was a disappointment to him or maybe it was a warped version of a chat-up line..........:rotfl:

'Course, if he'd wanted to see total hysteria, he should've used a tarantula, and I would have accelerated so fast that I would have entered orbit within seconds.

Righty, I'm off to the lottie and hope to stay dry and dodge any showers of kitchen sinks. Or showers of showers. Have a good day, everybody. GQ x

Greenbee I do use Freeg£e but the Fcycle one is a larger one and thought I 'd have a bigger audience. I'm in a better mood today after being so tired, and ahem...ratty yesterday...:D

I wouldn't say I love rats, but have a friend who keeps them. and they always look so cute and friendly.

Like you GQ, a tarantula would have finished me off though. :rotfl:

    No rain so far today...

Parsonswife, good news on the empty mouse traps!

Hi, I hope you dont mind me joining in, I have been lurking for a few weeks and have enjoyed it.
I am 57 and dont work as I have osteroporosis in both knees and use two crutches to walk. Some days are good, some not so good.
My OH is retired, we are hoping to move to a bungalow with in the next 12 months as the stairs are getting harder for me to climb.
