Don't strain your voice kidcat. It isn't worth it. I have hit the four week mark, so have an ENT referral and been warned that even if there is nothing sinister (I have a 'lump in my throat' sensation which is driving me nuts) I may need speech therapy to get my voice back to normal.

My job involves a. Talking on the phone b. Talking in meetings c. Public speaking.

Greenbee - I have heard similar tales from others, it seems whatever this is its raging. I am trying to write, text and email rather than talk. I was considering finding a computer program that I can type into that speaks for me - mainly for dealing with the younger kids.
Hope all goes well for you,

You have probably worked out that the phone is hardest - text rather than call! I've banned everyone from the house as it doesn't help having people around ... Can you move out for a week :D

Just thought I would offer to have anyone to stay for a week in trade off for a bit of housework and I promise not to talk to them :p

Same sex marriage, some one I work with has very strong view about same sex marriage, she also goes dewy eyed about hubby & I being so much in love at 'our age'. She was insisting that there shouldn't be same sex marriage as marriage is just for producing children. So I asked her if maybe hubby & I shouldn't have married as we are far too old to have children. She was a bit flummoxed by that.

PIC -I have chicken envy :) The are beauts. I love the name Yoshi but I'm a kid at heart. Are you picking him up today?

Kidcat - You'd be a fab teacher. You hve so much experience with children and different needs, that makes a real difference IMO.

Byatt - Check your mobile phone company's offers if you have one. I'm with O2 and have had 6 months of broadband and landline for £10. It' gone up to £20 now but is a cracking offer.

SGH - Hope you had a lovely meal, did you actually get any starter in the end?

Meme - Kids start arguments over the silliest things. My eldest had a pirate outfit he went everywhere in for about 3 months. He outgrew it in the end but didn't understand why it wasn't suitable for every occasion.

I've had both kids here since yesterday, eldest has a horrible hacking cough. They've been pretty well behaved. Had a scour of the charity shops on the way back from a hospital appointment and there wasn't anything worth buying. Kids permitting I need a good clearing and sorting day today.

The same sex marriage issue - I don't really see why they haven't extended the same right to marriage to them that hetrosexual couples have already. Make it for everyone or not at all.

    Hester:- Some people! :wall:

    Chirpy:- Welcome. :)

Kitcat:- Well done on getting through what was obviously a rough day. I totally agree with you on the all you can eat thing. One good plate of food for me as well!
I hope you and Greenbee get sorted out, this does sound like a really nasty throat you have both got. The news has just said we are all immune to Penicillin! That'l be right!

PIC:- Is this 'new' baby day? Enjoy! you're going to have a lot of fun! :j
