Love it.
PAH- am glad you have support
Hugs to all those who need them, and welcome to the de-lurkers.
Welcome back suzi
Been mega busy again, and now have huge migraine. Trying to get parties finished and set - but am so busy with schools not managing as much as would like.
A few weeks back there was talk that long life cream has disappeared from shelves - well I found Morrisons are now selling longer life cream in small milk style cartons use by is about two months.
Also in B&M I found big plastic jars of risotto sauce, basically you add a few spoons to risotto rice and water, simmer 15 mins and hey presto risotto is born - quick and simple. I managed to throw a pan of risotto together for dinner tonight whilst dealing with kids who are bouncing off walls so a bonus for me. I think th ejar will do easily ten sets of meals for four, for 99p.0 -
Very exciting foodie day for me, I got taken to a local suppliers trade food fair :j We picked some new stuff for the cafe I work in, including an amazing Fentiman's Rose Lemonade. Not cheap/OS but if you see it do give it a go! Got some smoked salt to use in the cafe, and they decided to stock some of the Halen Mon gift stuff - the flavoured salts are amazing :O I'm just sitting here trawling the internet for salted chocolate/caramel cakes...as they also had a rather luscious vanilla salt. I use smoked salt at home, it's pinkish so looks wonderful artfuly strewn over something.
It's really quite weird, because all my rather esoteric foodie knowledge and skills, acquired for my own benefit and interest over the years, have finally found an outlet, and I really enjoy working in the cafe...far more than any other job I've ever done. I've had a few people pull grim 'min wages' faces at me, but I actually don't think I'd swap for another office job. I vowed I'd never set foot in an office again when DD no. 2 was born, and I have managed to stick to that - 22 years and counting. And getting to run the workshops is just the icing on the cake, as I get paid a better rate for that anyway!

Evening Everyone
So sorry to read of all the woes - there certainly seem to be a lot of them about at the moment.
Can't believe what has happened PAH, astonishingly foolish. So sad you have to go through all this.
Still furiously clearing and packing. Chap came from removal firm this morning and estimated £1500 - £2000 before VAT and insurance. Now I might be out of touch, but it seems an awful lot for what we have to move. I have requested more quotes, we will see what they come in at.
Dust is causing me all sorts of problems, chest is very tight and wheezy, which makes sleeping a lot harder. Luckily we have done most of the clearing now, much more of this and it would do for me!
Kate - I guess you could make vanilla salt in the same way as sugar. I bought loads of vanilla pods (to make vanilla extract)from fleabay before christmas (50 I think) for about £4. Not highest grade, but perfect for the task, and the smell when I opened the packet was wonderful.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

I rather like St Julian of Norwich "all shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well"
I am a little saddened to hear of the death of Davy Jones - another childhood link gone.
Other than that it has been a good day - blossom coming on the trees, warmth in the sun, a trip to CHeltenham on the train with my marking (quick cup of coffee and got the train back by which time marking was done :T) and a 50% off sale in the Aston Villa shop so I could buy the kit DS wants for his birthday a lot cheaper than it would have been. It would have been cheaper still except he wanted "Allbrighton 12" printed on it and they charge by the letter / number :rotfl:He could have picked one with a shorter name and only one digit in the number!Tea was "sausage surprise" from the freezer - sausage casserole (kids had toad in the hole) roasted root veg, and potato dauphinoise, all left over from a couple of weeks ago. There are many I know who would have thrown all of that and it did a whole meal for 4 of us (with the addition of 2 sausages and a tin of beans for the kids).
And tomorrow - it is MARCH :j:T:beer::j:T:beer::j:T:beer::j:T:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Oh and Katieowl, I am wel jel. I want to work in a cafe.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Today has been a long day. Got the letter in the mail today and D has been awarded mid rate care and higher rate mobility from her birthday next month. On a financial front its good news as will go a long way towards all the extras and we can look at doing some extra activities for DD. I've put my claim in for carers which will mean OH can stop his OT on Sundays which will mean we can go up to my parents for the weekend to be spoiled more often (yay) and he can have a proper weekend and be less tired so will help out more. But I just looked at the letter and felt a bit sick really as its all down in black and white and makes DDs disabilities more real somehow. Took her to have her photo taken to go with her blue badge application and it's a friend who runs the photo place and he said he hadn't realised she was so bad - kind words but... Just feel kind of eurgh
Just have to look forward to our holiday on Monday and focus on the good stuff that we can do now.
Love the one about the spotless house PIC - that makes me feel better about the chaos that reigns here! Definitely not bored!0 -
Mrs Chip - that seems alot, my friend had her house (large four bedroomed, crammed loft and garage) all packed and sitting in storage for £400ish, will then cost her the same when she moves into new place, but its still way cheaper than your quotes.
Stiltwalker - I know exactly how you feel, every time I look at the letter confirming DS diagnosis I still crumble. I'm told it gets easier.0 -
Hi guys, and hugs all round. You all deserve them. (((((((hugs)))))) Welcome newbies.
I have just been speaking to my DD on the phone; she found out her dad is dating. (seems he's repeating history by jumping feet first and declaring undying love already, after about a week of dating)...it's really triggered my DD, because of the past relationship he had with her friend which broke up our marriage. She's terrified he's going to "replace" her with this new woman as he "replaced" her she feels, when he had his affair. I have had to be the "better person" again for my DD's sake, and tried to help her see this woman is older and couldn't replace her as a DD as the previous friend did. She was sobbing down the phone. She put her heart out there again, to him, and was hopeful after Xmas that she had a "dad" again and now she sees it all crumbling away. He asked her if she approved and she said to me, how can I approve someone I've not met. She doesn't need this and neither do I.
I am crushed for her. She found out because the stupid f££k sent her a text meant for this woman.
Kidcat, it doesn't get easier; you just get tougher. Each milestone you feel like you've been hit by a ton of bricks again; but then you pick yourself up, more quickly each time, smile and set to...and so it goes...0 -

FWIW ours with Pickfords was a touch over £2K and that was three years ago...that was intended to be for the one lorry. They ended up having to use two, because they miscalculated, but that was borne by them as it was their misjudgement.
It's a long haul removal though....we are as far west as the can get without falling off the edge :rotfl:
