    Hello Everyone :)

I've been awol for a while, but have been reading everyone's posts. I'm doing ok, just haven't felt like posting. One of those strange depression side effects I suppose.

((((((((((((((hugs to everyone that needs them)))))))))))))))))

I completed the FAB weight management course on Monday and overall I was impressed with how it was run and the info given. I also found out that I will get reduced price gym membership for a year instead of the six months I thought it was. One thing that shock me was when I was talking about cooking and what changes I needed to make, I got looked at like I was a freak by some of the ladies on the course. It's not like I was talking out making cordon bleu/Michelin star food, just what I consider basic cooking. I ended up writing out a recipe for basic tomato sauce for three of the five of us on the course, as they had only ever used jars of sauce and didn't know how to make it. I've lost 1kg so far. Here's hoping that it won't be the only one.

Life continues much the same as normal in the SDG household. DS1 and DS2 are normally glued to the ps3 and DH is waiting for his new computer to turn up, so I'm looking forward to being a computer widow for a while. I understand that it is much like being a golf widow, except there is less grass involved, although the amount of swearing and alcohol is the same.

I'm sure I will be back soon to rant about it.

    Take care everyone xxxx

Byatt keep reminding yourself you ex is such a weak person he has to have a younger female on his arm to make him feel like a man, but that will not help your daughter, poor, poor thing, opps I started writing a long email all about me again about my ex and other guys, but you don't want to read all that guff.

I can never believe it when I find someone who uses jars for everything, especially tomato sauce for spag bol, I mean could anything be easier, so many are just so lazy and then moan how broke they are. Only jar of sauce I have every bought is Mr S. basics curry as we only have it very rarely and its not worth buying all the separate ingredients and and it used to be 9p a jar, but gone right up so won't be buying it again.

Have updated my blog on that funny act called the DWP, learnt their latest trick to get out of reconsidering decisions, its under the page To Battle - Day two, cannot put the link with it being my blog.

It was beautiful today, so sunny and warm, and stayed like that all day. I went out to do a bit of shopping and then came home and rested but was so warm still at 8pm that even though dark with the outside light on I was able to plant more of my strawberry plants, still more to go in but getting there.

    Hugs and Love to everyone

PAH What a nightmare your going through, I really don't know how you are keeping sane. Where do they get these people? don't care r us ?? One day she may need help and she will remember how many people she told "its your fault because I tried to ring you"

Managed to sleep 12-4am so not too bad.

I have had a huge flare up on my face. My skin has been really dry for a while but yesterday my forehead and nose went bright red  I have only put evoo on it as it was so dry so wondered if it was all the different tablets that I have been taking. Does anyone else get this ??

hopefully this is the link to check your WTC if anyone is unaware of changes being made in April.

We will lose £40 a month  and I am still not fit to go back to work

The people I feel most sorry for are couples who work a total of 16 hours between them I think they lose everything as they have to work a minimum of 20 hours and how many are going to be lucky enough to get employers to find them 4 extra hours

Sorry to have started the day off with a "we're doomed all doomed" post :rotfl::rotfl:

PAH Try using one of the Pataks curry pastes...not the cook in sauces the concentrated pastes. They are very very good, and easy to use, and work out much cheaper that either buying a ton of ingredients or using a ready made sauce. They are also on offer frequently - BOGOF usually - which is when I stock up. They do several different types, we like balti, korma, and rogan josh. Depending on how much curry you are making 1/4 to 1/3 of a jar is sufficient. Opened jar will keep forever in the fridge, and recipe on the side will tell you whether it's tomato based or whatever, to give you a clue as to how to make it yummy. They sell these pastes in HUGE catering sizes and they are what virtually all 'ordinary' Indian restaurants use.

Thanks for your post though, because I worry from time to time that the stuff I will be teaching on this cookery course is just too basic..but from what you say, I don't think it will be. I can't ever believe people use jars of pasta sauce! Curry I understand because people think it's difficult, but it's not! I always tell people to remember the curry is cooked in some of the poorest kitchens on the planet...so they won't have loads of kit or ingredients!

Well caravan season has started and we are off to sit in a field again! :j
We only get to do this when DH is off so we try to go as much as possible over the season. We have a tourer which is on a seasonal pitch on a working farm. My delight is watching 'round-up' the ewes and lambs charging across the field after the farmer on his Quad dispensing feed. Then the ordinary cows join in closely followed by the highland cattle! Add a couple of farm dogs and it just lifts your heart for the day!
We have always camped either in tents or caravans. It's such an escape. It's funny, I'm sitting here hugging myself with excitement!!!:rotfl:

Am sending my joy to everyone...not everyone's cup of tea I know, but want you all to feel as giggly/butterflyish/good as me.
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”

I'm not sure we should be so quick to judge and condemn to being lazy. There are lots of reasons people take short cuts in their every day life. :)

SDG Well done on the weight loss and nice to see you posting. :T

Meme your post has really made me smile. :D

Gloriously sunny day today so I am going to convince OH to take a half day and head for the beach with the dog. There is a fabulous little cafe at the end of it where I shall also be convincing him to buy me lunch. :D

    Happy Friday everyone. xxx

If making spag bol/ lasagne/ any other pasta sauce for all/ most of us then I make it from scratch. If it's just a quick tea for DS1 (eg when scouts is on and we're in a rush) (sometimes with DS3 added, depending what else ppl are eating) then I use a jar - the Aldi essentials one at 30p(ish) a jar (just gone up) - a jar will make 2 meals for the 2 of them, sometimes a little more. v quick, v cheap and I add meatballs to it for DS1. I use curry paste to add to curry (I make my own with spices and tomatoes etc but find a spoon of paste just gives it an extra 'something') Other than that I don't use jarred sauces at all. I freely admit that in my case it's a lazy and cheap option. I won't eat it myself though!:p

So true! I get spices from an Asian Supermarket as they are so much cheaper, then while I'm there I stock up on oil, chick peas and lentils. Curry was the first thing I got my OH to eat without noticing I hadn't put any meat in! Quite a feat for a confirmed carnivore like him. But with such good flavours and some chick peas/lentils for protein it really doesn't need the meat. Even when I do a meat curry I can usually stretch 1 good sized chicken breast or a very small pack of diced lamb to feed 4 or even more by adding chick peas and lots of veg. Just hope that DS is going to as fond of curry as the rest of us. His big sister (all of 3 next month!) loves her curry and will eat it as hot as a madras with gusto. She's been eating curry since she was about 12 months but as little man is only 9 months I've not quite tried him on it yet. I might do Indian scrambled eggs for lunch one day to see if he likes the flavours as there is no heat in that. It's just finely chopped onion, pepper, mushroom, whatever is about fried off with a little garum masala then when that is cooked scramble the eggs straight into the same pan and serve with nan or pitta instead of the more usual toast.

Off to a farm today with our home ed friends so must go and make some picnic to take.

Hugs to anyone who needs one (or just likes hugs!)

PIC - I suffer with red rashy nose and cheeks that comes and goes - mine is rosacea - is it worth doing an online search to see if it's like your symptoms!

If so, your GP can prescribe treatment. Good luck!
