STILTWALKER - both my DD's reckon I killed off their chilli receptors when they were tiny, it was so funny having their school friends home for supper and making a very mild version of chilli or curry and having very red faced friends begging for glasses of water when they were saying the meal didn't taste at all hot! Good side is that when the eldest one went out to Andra Pradesh as an ambassador for her school she got masses of brownie points for being the only westerner they had ever had to visit who could cope with their normal curries!0

PIC, I haven't seen the film but did Google...what a grand idea!
I can at least imagine.
PAH, I'm going to chat to my DD and perhaps be a bit more blunt about him, without sounding as if I'm running him down, difficult, but hopefully doable. Can you tell me how I can find your blog? Pm me if needs be, please. Always love your chatty posts.:A
SDG, funny I was wondering where you were and then you popped up. I'm sorry about the depression; it really is wearing. I have to admit I've not got dressed all week and have just done the minimum whilst sleeping or curled up on the sofa. PM me if you want to talk or have a chat about anything. :A
Katie and PAH, I have used sauces in jars...I do make my own sauce, but occasionally use a jar for convenience, but include extra stuff. I have found the curry sauces in jars (recent discovery for me) really useful lately as I just use about a third to cover some rice. I know it would be better to make my own, but just not worth it for one and no space to freeze. I have to make decisions about what is best to put in freezer as so small. I also only have one hob which works well, but what I am saying is that people use jars etc for many reasons and then it can become a habit but also very useful for different reasons. Also with my depression, on bad days I use easy solutions when I cook as I can't cope with anything else.
meme, I Lurve caravanning. :T The joys of sitting in a field and feeling alls well with the world are unmatched, even when the weather is bad. I always felt happy and relaxed. Great fun! We had our own caravan.
I wish this heavy "lump" on my chest would go. The SAD lamp and vit d are I think helping, but still feel like I'm wading through syrup.
DD sounds much better today although she has had some news about her eyes which is not so good and we have to see a specialist. I don't know if anyone knows if ASD adults are prone to physical problems but she seems to be getting all sorts of things as she gets older.
My little pot of dafs are a joy to see when I open the curtains. What bright happy little flowers. I would like to be a daffodil.
Has Scrabbles gone away? And where is Wen? and a few others?0 -
Funnily enough, the only time I really use jar sauces is in the caravan. It just makes life there much easier and DS doesn't notice the onion. At home I food process onions, mushrooms and peppers so he doesn't notice, but i don't have the magimix in the caravan.
Meme - I am very jealous of your weekend in a field. We won't be doing that until jubilee weekend. Enjoy!I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

If so, your GP can prescribe treatment. Good luck!
Oh gawd yes it does look similar to one of the types I googled. Made an appointment for this evening as my face feels like it's burning off, I just don't want the doctor to get fed up because I have been four times in the last month and called him out when I got stuck in the middle of the night
I could be the surgeries very own Dot Cotton :rotfl:, I don't usually go running to the docs every five mins but I have learnt it does not pay to get ill at the weekend as no one will see you.

PIC - after years of having very little to do with my GP, I spent a lot of last year talking to them in between going in an out of hospital, and am currently having regular calls as I've had a throat infection that has taken a while to get under control and have lost my voice. I ask for telephone consultations so they can decide whether they need to see me - with this infection, I've been seen once, but had numerous calls (OH has also had calls when I was very ill), several prescriptions and sick notes. And instructions as to when to call back. I think they'd rather hear from you than not. Telephone consultations are a good way to let them decide whether they need to see you, particularly if you are working or germy.
ETA - and they always say call before the weekend as you don't want to get ill on the weekend and leave something untreated. I won't go to the local out of hours service as I have family who do shifts there and no way am I going to risk having any of them tell me to stop wasting their time0 -
i must be one of the few people who actually likes the shop bought jars of pasta sauce - obviously I should hang my head in shame according to this thread.
I can and do make it from scratch, but whenever its on offer I do stock up. Doesn't make me a bad person you know!0 -
Gloriously sunny day today so I am going to convince OH to take a half day and head for the beach with the dog. There is a fabulous little cafe at the end of it where I shall also be convincing him to buy me lunch.

Care to hint where this is? We used to go to the one slightly north on the edge of town but since they bulldozed the cafe we haven't been back - am I missing something?:rotfl:
Always use dol mio pasta sauces for spag bol and pizza - we love it!

Wish it was here! It's really cloudy and miserable. Thought it might be nice after the fog this morning but hasn't turned out that way.

Well if you're bad so am I.I am one of the least lazy people I know but I do fill my time well and if I am pushed for time or have something better to do, a jar of decent sauce is a life saver for a last minute meal. Ideally I'd have enough freezer space to batch cook my own but I don't.
