PIC- obnoxious woman!! Would you be happy for OH to medically discharged? Bearing in mind the current situation at work for him I can only see it as a good thing but obviously dont know how it will affect everything else.
Shelley - my washing mountain became a river sometime yesterday, have washed some but feel ambivalent as I cant get it outside to dry so I feel cross at having to use the dryer on such a beautiful day!
GQ - thanks for the suggestions, tried local pound shop nothing at all, ended up buying pens and pencils in B&M in girlies colours.
Have been in parental support group this morning and been asked to take over as co-ordinator, the paid worker will still oversee but says she cant always be there any more so wants me to take over, have agreed as I think its a vital resource.
Followed by shopping for party balloons etc, am now grabbing quick sandwich and then back to school for afternoon world book day special assembly - just hope I dont fall asleep!!
Amazingly I got all the kids to school on time this morning, no idea how I have done it but house is bombed and mum baby sitting whilst I hit parents evening so am expecting some parental disapproval.
Am still slightly stunned (as are those in RL that know me) that OH is still alive and well after his stunt and that I did not scream, yell, cry or throw a tantrum (well other than ranting here!!).
Vanilla sugar I swear I have seen on Amazon or Ebay.0 -
Happy St David's Day.0 -
Doc and I have just been for a fabulous walk, the field that was ploughed up yesterday was awash with assorted gulls all digging about and wheeling up against a beautiful blue sky. Everyone in the plant nurseries was out doing m aintenance on various bits of machinery - some of them were even singing! Everyone we passed said hello and made a fuss of the dog it is a lovely sunny day and warm enough to go out without a coat Mmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!! Heavenly !0

Beautiful afternoon here too and the ponds are alive with the sound of croaking
I love this time of year and can be seem standing at the kitchen window with a pair of binoculars watching all the froggy antics - the love fest in full swing. One pond is full of frog spawn while the other full of frogs but nothing else. Don't know if the smaller pond can cope with so many tadpoles when they hatch so may have to move some of the spawn if non appears in the big pond. I get quite excited with all this potential new life.
Birds are twittering, daffodils are coming out and spring feels very much sprung, at least it has today so I'll enjoy every minute. I love the call of curlews from a near by farm which always has a seasonal flooded field, which also gets swans, geese, ducks and gulls. Used to be an old estuary but no ones told the birds it's now pasture land.
I was also sad to hear that Davy Jones has died. So many happy memories watching the Monkeys on a Saturday evening. Every time I see clips it makes me think of the Goodies, so I wonder if they got some of their inspiration from the Monkey programs. I loved both by the way, just funny without so much of the crude, smutty stuff that passes for humour today. Oh dear I'm showing my age.:D
Happy St Davids day :T
Suzi"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Unknown0 -
PIC, I'm just angry that even now ex can still have this negative effect on us. Totally triggered by it all even though I would never want to be with him again, I still feel bad and all the counselling in the world doesn't prepare me for these feelings. I feel totally pathetic and wimpy. I understand my DD's feelings (I am sure she harbours a secret desire that we would be a family again), and get sad and upset to see her sad and upset (not that I let her see me that way). If I just had me to think about I would move away, back to Wales probably or abroad. My secret dream is to have a B&B and write soppy novels for M&B. Preferably somewhere Greek.
My sadness comes from feeling his nastiness is never going to go away. The shortsighted decision made 37 years ago (to marry him), has had devastating consequences.
Still, all this will pass and I will recover and bounce back. So glad the weather is improving. I have not had the heating on for 3 days! Learned a valuable tip from one of the other threads too about using emergency credit on my electric, by putting in the key when the beeping sound starts. I had no idea I could do that, so tried it yesterday and it worked. I have the money to get electric it's just that its' so useful when I am in a blah mood and haven't dressed in several days! Plus if I was ill and couldn't get to the shops a life saver. Funny how the companies don't advertise these tips.
Mrs C, can you hire a man and van to help with the heavy stuff? And then hire a van as Katie and GQ suggest which you can drive? Wish I was nearer or I'd help.
Suzi, I loved the Monkeys too; they were the first band that I got interested in (never did with the Beatles), and loved to watch them on a Sunday I think it was. Maybe Saturday.0 -
Aw thanks Byatt, what a kind thought! So sorry your ex is still twisting the knife one way or another.
Well, I have booked the move, we got a quote from Bishop's Move for just under £1200. The Pickfords one came this afternoon (after we had already decided to go with the other lot) and it was more than £2600 :eek::eek:. I honestly cannot understand why it is so much! They will come on the 12th and take everything away, we will sleep here that evening (thankfully the bed is not going!) and drive down early the next morning. Anyone know what the going rate for tipping removal men is?:D
It has been a super day, lots of tiny daffs out in the garden, very appropriate for St Davids day. Sadly the forecast is for rain over the weekend, but I know it's needed, so must not grumble.
Vanilla sugar is dead easy to make - just stick a vanilla pod (can be a used one) into a jar of caster sugar and leave it there, the sugar become infused with the lovely aroma of vanilla and is great for sprinkling on shortbread, doughnuts, or my favorite, apple fritters nom nom nom!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Spring is springing which seems to make everything a little brighter. The sunshine helps too!0 -
Beautiful picture Jenny; did you take it yourself?
Just made some rice pudding; haven't had it in years, but need comfort food, and rice pudding fits the bill. Can't wait for it to cool!
Ate a whole packet of biscuits yesterday.0 -
vanilla sugar was in A!di earlier £1.09 for a tiny pot:eek::eek::eek:
Byatt - your ex is an idiot (well i would have used a different word but swear filter takes it out:D ) but the thing to remember is that without him you would not have had your DD and whilst he may be a waste of space he at least did give you someone you love very much, and who is definitely is not a waste of space.0 -
