Morning all
tried to pop in last night to check if VJ's mum got home safely and the forum was broke glad to see you didn't get stranded! I have a good laugh with all the dishy young docs when we go to hospital with DS2 lol don't think any of them are over 30 and they're all handsome wotsits
is that a qualification to be a surgeon nowadays??
Aw bless you.
I know, we were promised 10 inches - and only got a sprinkling - ooh err missus :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
What did go on last night?? Come on own up who broke the forums??
Byatt - tried to write a post but the blinking thing would just not load - writing a letter will definitely help you make sure you get all your points across. Thinking outside that, I dont know how you ended up in the current situation with your DD so slap me if I am wrong, but from memory you are living in a small place thats difficult to heat whilst your DD lives separately but has some sort of support package in place. Is it feasible that you moved into one residence and you took over the organising of her care and claimed as her carer?
Either way am sending hugs cos I know that dealing with these people is soul destroying. ((hugs))
have been very indulgent today, OH is awful at keeping cars clean and tidy and the small car he uses for work he keeps like a bin - its an embarrassment when I use it to go shopping or take kids anywhere, its got so bad that DS13 refuses to get in it. So have paid to have it properly valeted:o:o in the hope that when its sparkly clean OH will be more inclined to keep it up - since getting the new car he has been very careful about keeping that one in order so have fingers crossed!!0 -
I thought I'd busted the forum
I could get onto my user CP but got an error message if I tried to click any threads.
Well, we only got a sprinkling of snow too. Which was fine by me! I bought some mega-reduced boots from Debenhams that were posted on the Grabbit thread, OH took me to pick them up this morning. It was a big moment for me as I literally can't remember the last time I bought any new clothing or shoes, other than underwear, tights or socks. They are great! They're almost like wellies but brown leather with a faux fur top. I've needed some sensible winter boots for months and not found any second hand so I don't feel too guilty buying them. They're never worth £65 though! And I noticed that the same ones instore were £32.50 - I ordered them online for £15.60. Isn't it strange how you often need to shop around even in the same store? Between them and the skirt and dress I got yesterday I'm having quite a week for clothes!
Lizzyb - good luck with the interview - I know how stressful it can be. But as long as you've paid enough NI you'll be fine x
GFN123 - my fingers are still crossed for you hun x0 -
Having a rootle thru the fridge this morning I discovered a couple of slices of bacon I'd missed,a dodgy looking onion and a few of my potatoes in the rack were looking a bit poorly soooo
Grilled bacon and crumbled
Par boiled potatoes for 5 mins
then grated onion and potato together for rosti
I added a glug of chilli oil and the bacon and a pinch of salt and pepper, some chives from the freezer and a good sprinkling of the approved foods salad seasoning.
Was wondering what to do with the mixture when I remembered I have a lakelands burger press so I now have two med rostis in individual pyrexs' for dinners and 7 smaller rosti burgers beautifully pressed in waxed paper in the freezer
Have now got a very sorry looking red pepper, sweet potatoes and a butternut squash out so will be making some soups next.
I freeze these in ziplock bags flat its a bit of a faff but I can cram more into my overloaded freezers that way..0 -
:( :silenced:_pale_ Oh no, I did another huge long reply and lost it again!!!
Thanks for all the support; it's so appreciated. I will try again later with a response. Can't face it again right now.0 -
Byatt, I get cross when I lose a post, my KB is rubbish it takes an age to write. I 'copy' my text on longer posts, so that if it goes west I can 'paste' it again!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Byatt: I hope everything comes out well in your battle with the Orforities! Everyone has problems from time to time (some more than others) so never be frightened to offload on here. I'm sure no-one (in their right mind) could see it as whining!
My son is a Chief Inspector in the police...and yes, he looks far too young to be in that lofty position, especially to his mum who's under 40 (OK in my mind only).
Two packs of Jaffa Cakes in Cool Traders yesterday for £1
The diet starts next week...or, if it's too cold, the following week/month.Normal people worry me.0 -
On the other hand, I have two relatives (one 54, one 33) who would most certainly be dead now without the care and attention they have received from two hospitals in opposite ends of the country, both in the last seven months, each in an emergency situation, so I am very grateful those hospitals and their associated ambulance staff were there, and that we didn't have to sell the house to pay for the treatment they needed.
I agree, there have been many times when we have had to turn to NHS and have received excellent care. I don't know if this is because of the area we live in or not. Only last night my DH had to see the Dr and within minutes blood tests and a referral to a Consultant had been agreed. For this kind of response I will always be grateful. I think the scary thing is that all this might change with the various cut backs etc. I sometimes am guilty of taking for granted how lucky we are to have the NHS and I except that some changes have to be made -however, I really hope it doesn't disappear or change so dramatically, so that it is no longer free treatment for everyone at the point of need -what a tragic loss that would be.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

I had not responded to Charis because TBH I found the response rather sanctimonious. I'm sure that every one of us has reason to be grateful that the NHS is there, and I'm equally sure that none of us wishes for it to disappear. But I'm sorry, that does not mean that the NHS is beyond reproach when it lets people down so badly. The fact is, too many people are let down far too often. There are certain hospitals where you'd have every right to wonder what was happening to your loved ones. Just google for the problems at North Stafford Hospital or Hinchingbrooke Hospital for example. I know people who died in both hospitals because of systematic failings there. And my mother's lack of treatment at one of them may well have resulted in serious loss of faculty. Questions were not raised until long after people had already died, and yet I have every faith that every member of staff thought they were acting correctly. And yet here we are.
Anyway, swiftly moving on...
Fabbest news EVER. We have a free holidayWell - almost free. We have to pay ferry crossing and fuel. Friend-of-a-friend won some money on the lottery a while back and bought a fishing lake and attached villa in France. It's been done up for holiday rentals and friend-of-a-friend invited friend to try it out before any paying guests. Friend invited us and another couple along as it sleeps six :j We're going Jubilee week so I expect the ferry will be dearer than usual, and OH will spend the whole time blooming fishing. but still
Aren't I a lucky girl? If I wasn't in so much pain I'd be doing cartwheels!

Must be the day for it. I have made hash with leftover bacon bits, chunks of corned beef dh leaves after making his sandwiches,a little chicken I had stripped off a carcass and frozen and some chopped cooked cabbage plus a fresh onion.
It was very tasty with brown sauce but youngest didn't like it, oldest and I did.
Also made some mixture to fry off later for brussel sprout baji, a few potato scone things and will make some sweet fruit scones later.
I want to make a bit of room in the freezer for a bulk meat buy with my isa money (not much). I decided to cash it in and use it for the freezer etc as the interest is so bad it is worth more in goods to me.Hobsons_Choice wrote: »

I had to read it twice then, I was wondering how old you were when you had him:rotfl:
The trouble with a lot of organisations these days is from the top down people just do not want to do the job properly.
I wish they would bring back SEN's, they were the most efficient nurses I have ever come across.0
