  • Well not to many reduced items in Mr S but there was one pot of reduced double cream so I am now proud owner of one pat of butter - not weighed it yet. Fpr one pot I couldn't be bothered getting out the food processor and so started shaking it in its sealed pot then I remembered I had a plastic shaker, so got it put the rather thick cream by then into it and a short time later hey pesto butter and buttermilk. Washed and washed it till it ran clean and have buttermilk in fridge for me to make some scones tomorrow. I couldn't resist and had some on a bagel and it was delicious. So will be watching out for any more cream and have told hubby whenever he goes to shops without me he must get into habit of checking for reduced double cream. Apart from that I did manage find some reduced diced lamb - enough for two meals, frying steak - enough for one meal and 3 chicken legs ( we had two of these tonight stuffed with Quark and garlic and served with large mushrooms, small potatoes and sliced peppers and all cooked together in oven) and even hubby loved it although he usually likes a sauce or gravy with his meals and he did not resort to bottled sauce ( actually he is getting quite good and one bottle lasts weeks now of both tomato and brown sauce - he used to put it on his plate before he had tasted his food )

    Hugs to all

Can't do multi quote. Wanted to answer SammyKaye too and haven't read any further so don't know if any one else has commented. But, I guess it depends on your accent too. Like up north we say bath and path with a short 'a' as in apple. But down south they say it with a long arrh. Can't think of an example of that off hand. Right, off to catch up.

Stiltwalker we love South Lakes Animal park too, we followed the elephant sign for mile a few years ago till we got there. Have they got an elephant yet. Its almost as good as John Aspinalls zoo's.

My OH managed to fall down the stairs at Dd's today, backwards onto DGS's buggy which probably saved him from a really bad injury but killed the buggy  He has put back his recovery by about a week. So more TLC needed and he is now learning that I am usually right, he needs to take it easy for a bit longer.

Laughing at accents here - the best one I read about was a wee boy who moved up here from down south. He said down there he was "Karl"..... when he arrived up here he was "Carol" :D I tried it and got OH to do it and there is no way we can say Karrrrl the way you do :rotfl: it always comes out KAROL :rotfl:

I'd decided on one of 2 activities today depending on the weather - clean out the loft or prepare the veg beds in the back garden for the coming season. It's cold but dry and sunny so veg beds it is. Hopefully that will help with the sleep thing.

Ginnyknit - hope OH is OK. I have steep narrow stairs and a poor sense of balance and dread falling down them. I'm nowhere near the age when I ought to be considering this, but one of my reasons for wanting to stay in this house forever is that the bathroom is downstairs and I could live here without going upstairs if necessary. Talk about forward planning - I don't know what I'm going to do tomorrow and I'm thinking about what might happen in 20 years' time :rotfl:

Have put a whoopsied whole chicken in the slow cooker this morning - first time I've had a whole chicken in ages. And I'll be using lots of my homegrown veg to make several portions of pasta sauce to freeze - I reckon my frozen tomatoes should just last until I can grow some more, which was one of my ambitions for last year.

Right, best get on, if only to see what pup has nabbed to chew now - always dangerous when he's quiet.

ETA re pronunciation - my English teacher used to tell us a story about 2 small boys rushing along a school corridor and bumping into the headmaster - when asked why they were running they replied "gorragetusimbux". Any guesses?
