Hey ginny, hope your oh ok. No elephant yet but you can hand feed the giraffes!!! They have the most mobile tongues and curl the pieces of carrot right out of your hand. Apparently Greenlands farm village at Tewitfield, Carnforth is free too for January so we are going there too as petting farms are DD's second favourite place in the whole world. Can you tell she loves animals?

DS is getting stuck into finger food now, I thought he was being a bit slow with texture but apparently he just isn't keen on fork mashed texture, give him a stick of toast or some macaroni cheese and he's happy to dive straight in! So looks like we will be going the baby-led weaning route - I'd better make some more bibs!!! Wonder what he'll make of chicken and veg pie as that's tonight's tea? Which I ust now tear myself away from the puter and go and make - have fun all.

Sorry LB it's not exciting at all or even interesting. :o

Someone knocked on my door, as I rarely get unexpected visitors other than they are asking for directions, or one night/early hours a strange man asking if he could use my phone

anyway, I guessed what they had come for, picked up the keys before I opened the door, and as he was about to say something I held up the keys...

My dog barks when anyone is at the door so conversation is limited. :D

Awwh that's lovely. I hope they get used to you.

How strange accents are. I can't imagine how you can't say Kaaarl, Madartha and (I can't remember who else said it).

It's strange how varied the accents from the north are but those who come from 'darn sarth' think they all just sound northern, or so I was told by one person.

Hope you're all having a good weekend.

Good for you, looking after these poor puss cats. They'll realise that they are safe & warm/fed, and settle, bless them. But well done for making the time and effort to do this. I've followed your story with great interest.

I don't have room to do this (no garden to speak of) but years ago I volunteered at a cat charity place fairly near me. Thought it would be ideal to help them. The woman who ran the place really put me off though. As she showed me around, she complained about this volunteer (can't put brushes away) and that volunteer (only volunteers 3 days a week!...I'd "only" offered my Sundays...so felt I really wasn't measuring up to whatever standard she thought she had in place). Anyway, after a morning of listening to her complain, though I loved the kitties and enjoyed THEIR company. I decided that place wasn't for me. Shame though. It could have been good for them and me. :( As I live reasonably remotely, there isn't really a great choice here, which is a shame as I have weekend time I could spare.
Am very glad you are doing this though. Well done :T

    You're right, Byatt...that wasn't remotely exciting...:rotfl: (joking, honest!)

Well, I've had a lovely OS day - have tamed the BM so much now that I'm onto seeds in my half and half. No stopping me now!

After doing the bare minimum housework, my neighbour and I decided we couldn't waste such a beautiful sunny, frosty winter's day, and drove over to the coast, about 20 mins. Now, it's one of the best kept secrets in Britain but Northumberland has some of the most beautiful coastline in the world, with castles pretty much at every mile. Absolutely stunning today with the sun glistening acoss the water, and miles upon miles of sandy beach. Only a few hardy souls out. It was a day to be glad to be alive. :)

Now making 2 different types of soups for next week's lunches and sipping a miniscule glass of wine v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. This is my weekly treat, I've decided. It's already half gone, but I'm really enjoying it, savouring every tiny mouthful :o

All in all, a gentle lovely day :)

Now if only there was something to watch on'telly

Hope all who are poorly, have had accidents, or just generally need hugs are ok. Take care.

    xx

So DD and I set off for Birmingham to see "The Artist" at the Electric CInema there - done up 1930's cinema! Unfortunately so did everyone else and it was sold out :(

    So we went shopping :T

Only to primarni. DD going to Poland with school next month so needed some layers, I got some cheap leggings to wear to a "do" tonight and did get her a lovely jumper which was only £8 - and looked much dearer. The whole place was heaving. I said to DD "what recession?" and she said "maybe everyone is in here precisely because of the recession and this shop is cheap". Smart girl!

Hope GQ is OK and hugs to anyone else in need.

Saved money yesterday by cutting DS hair with the clippers - I don't like it as much but he was desperate and couldn't wait until I could get him an appointment next week. I have a groupon to get mine cut and coloured and I really must book it up. I also got a groupon for 12 magazines for £12 which normally retail at £3.75 each - an absolute bargain. Mind you the mag is full of adverts for impossibly expensive stuff - handbags for several hundred pounds and dresses for the same. No wonder people think they have a "right" to this stuff - and then get themselves in debt. There was a question on the radio last week "would you rather have a poem written from the heart or £1000 hand bag?". I was truly astonished at how many women said the handbag - and admitted to it! One said "Well you don't look good with a poem in your hand". Shockingly shallow. Mind you, if I got the handbag I'd flog it and have a holiday :rotfl:

Hmm seem to have had a rant. Have a good evening everyone, I'm off to DS footie team christmas party - the buffet is everyone take something, so I chose indian snacks. Easy!
I wanna be in the room where it happens

VJsmum I HATE Primarni in Brum, it's awful in there, people treat it like a jumble sale! Stuff all over the floor etc. Go to the one in Redditch is much nicer and still the same bargains :D
