Well I can say Karl but it comes out karol or karul and I cant stop it ! LOL I was in a soap forum once and there was a girl in there who bought some stuff off me or vice versa. I got her address on the phone and sent the stuff to a street in "Saffend" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I thought it was a place!0

stiltwalker, I just loved the story about your DS and his finger food. Really made me smile; such joy.
Well the chicken pie went down a treat even if he is wearing half of it!!
It's amazing really - something we're seeing for the first time as because DD's finger joints are all hypermobile and it made it difficult for her she didn't self feed until she was 21 months!0 -
Well done to those of you who are using Welsh in everyday speech, we Celts have to do as much as we can to save the languages....was impressed when in Scotland a few years ago to see Gaelic supplement in a Sunday paper, but gather there isn't the same enthusiasm for the language as there is in Wales.....sorry to go so off supject but am passionate about Irish Gaelic so it spills over into the other languages as well.
Gailey....give yourself a break girl....you were blaming yourself for being tired the other day as you couldn't sleep....insomnia is not a choice....you do a great job. Hope that OH got job.
GQ...hope that you are ok.

Double Woo Hoo PIC!
Poor kitties, I'm sure they will settle soon. And the butter is fun isn't it, best thing i've done in the kitchen for ages!:rotfl:
Very cold here today, we had our first overnight frost. having said that I found four blackberries in the garden - proper plump shiny blackberries, not wizened autumn leftovers.
I am finally getting to the end of digging out the back wall of the garden, another couple of hours tomorrow should see it done. Then I can start building my raised beds with all the rock I have dug out - my OS plan is to spend no money on materials to get the garden ready for veg. Rocks for the bed walls, the soil removed from in front of the wall, once raddled, into the beds, and the tiny stones left from the raddling for the little paths between the beds.
Hugs for those that need them - GQ and Mard, hope you are feeling better soon. Byatt, you must be pleased that your luck has been passed on to someone else!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

Of course you can't, it's only natural. We were once visiting our Auntie Lillian in Edinburgh when I was a teenager and she mentioned something about going "oot to tha pitchers see a fullum" which I repeated back to her as I had heard it. For which I got a clip round the ear for being rude. Wasn't my intention as I thought it charming at the time. That pretty Scottish lady who does the weather on the telly does a few like that and I like them. Scotland is hame tae me but I've not lived there since about 1956.
About the Scottish Gaelic: there are deep-rooted, historical and uncomfortable reasons why it is not spoken in certain parts of the country. These are going to be very difficult, nay impossible, to reverse until some Scots choose to let go the past and think that their ancient culture and tongue is more important than merely much more recent historical allegiances. Don't hold your breath.0 -
LBees - OH and I once helped a mate move back from London to Alnwick, and we had a great weekend up there. The beaches are fab, and we walked I think to Dunstanburgh castle, it was wonderful - and best of all, my favorite bird, Eider duck, on the sea. A lovely area we will go back to for a long time when we do our 'Grand tour' of the UK once we finally retire.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Hello Gailey. Had a chance to put your feet up today? Whirlwind.
Good luck to your husband about the job. Shortlisted is so much better than being told a straight "NO!"
About the Welsh tongue. I had the misfortune to spend a couple of terms at school in north Wales and we were forced to have three lessons a week and assembly was always in Welsh. Hated it because it was so damned hard for an eight year old. Got an F and a telling off from my Dad. I can still recite the whole of the Lord's Prayer in Welsh nearly fifty years later.0 -
Ooooh I LOVE Northumberland! The beaches are beautiful and (usually) quite empty (Bamburgh is particularly gorgeous), the castles, Lindisfarne, Hadrians Wall........
I want to go there NOW...beam me up Scotty!Normal people worry me.0 -
LavenderBees wrote: »After doing the bare minimum housework, my neighbour and I decided we couldn't waste such a beautiful sunny, frosty winter's day, and drove over to the coast, about 20 mins. Now, it's one of the best kept secrets in Britain but Northumberland has some of the most beautiful coastline in the world, with castles pretty much at every mile. Absolutely stunning today with the sun glistening acoss the water, and miles upon miles of sandy beach. Only a few hardy souls out. It was a day to be glad to be alive.
:shhh: it takes huge amounts of work to keep them a secret and therefore quiet.0
